Trent Harmon Shares Details About Debut Single “There’s A Girl” and Forthcoming Debut Album

Rising country star Trent Harmon won the hearts (and ears) of millions on the final season of American Idol, and continues to do so as he moves forward with his career in country music. If you haven’t seen Harmon perform live yet, stop what you are doing and see if he is coming to a city near you. His performance is a must see. The caliber of talent from this young 26 year old is beyond impressive.

Harmon’s year thus far has been an exciting one that has included winning American Idol, signing a record deal with Big Machine Records, releasing his debut single, making his Grand Ole Opry debut and much more. We caught up with Trent to get to know the rising star a little better, and talk about his pivotal year. He tells us that it has taken some getting used to, especially when it comes to his schedule.

“I’m very schedule oriented and I had to learn to not be” Harmon shares with us. “That’s got to be one of the biggest things. Not knowing when to wake up, not knowing where we are going. I’ve just had to get used to that, and being busy and not getting overwhelmed by a schedule that is not very cut and dry.”

One thing that Harmon can be certain about is his debut single, “There’s A Girl,” making its way to country radio.  Of his debut track, Trent tell us that the song took a change from its original direction. “It was written several months back. I went in to the studio thinking I had the frame work done for the song, and It was going to be a ballad and was going to be kind of a sad song” Trent revealed. “Looking back it was such a good call that I didn’t do that. We’re singing this song multiple times a day, and I’m so glad that I get to sing what turned in to a happy song. I got to looking in to what it was about the song that I liked and I laughed at myself about all the stupid things that I did, chasing that girl I reference in the song.”

In addition to promoting “There’s A Girl,” Harmon is also hard at work on his debut album. In fact, the singer/songwriter reveals that he is about 2/3 of the way through recording and plans to record quite a bit throughout November. “We are looking at a first quarter release for the album” Trent says. “When you think about it, it’s almost Thanksgiving so it’s not that far away.”

Harmon’s debut album is definitely one to look forward to. Until then, grab his debut single “There’s A Girl” and be sure to request it at your local country radio station.
