Country Rising Raises More Than Four Million Dollars To Support Multiple Charitable Initiatives

Nashville’s biggest stars united Sunday night (11/12) for COUNTRY RISING, presented by Hilton and Dollar General, raising more than four million dollars to support charitable initiatives for those affected by the September 2017 hurricanes as well as victims of the recent shooting in Las Vegas. From top to bottom, the production was as big as the talent that took the stage at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, including host Bobby Bones and performers Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Sam Hunt, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Chris Stapleton, George Strait, Keith Urban and surprise guest Jon Pardi. Additionally, Garth Brooks sent in a special video from Spokane, WA where he donated proceeds from the night’s two shows.

Lady Antebellum opened the show with some of their biggest chart-toppers as well as an ode to Tom Petty as the trio covered “Learning To Fly,” followed by host Bobby Bones welcoming the crowd. “Our country has been hit hard by tragedy this year,” Bones said. “It’s affected our families. It’s affected our friends. It’s affected the Country music community, but even during those hard times what we always try to do is find the good and make the difference, and tonight we’re trying to make the difference.”

Sam Hunt performed a medley of his biggest hits, as well as a unifying chorus of “This Land Is Your Land.” Martina McBride belted out timely songs including “Love’s The Only House” while Keith Urban brought energy to the stage as he interacted with the crowd and performed his soulful “Blue Ain’t Your Color.” Dierks Bentley’s set included his powerful song “Riser,” which he dedicated to the first responders and the community for rallying together and rising up in the midst of tragedy, also surprising the crowd by bringing out special guest Jon Pardi who performed “Dirt On My Boots.”

Jason Aldean took the stage for a significant set, acknowledging the shooting in Vegas that personally affected him.

“It’s been a rough couple months for us up here, and it’s a lot of fun to get back out and play for the people who matter which is you guys,” said Aldean. “I love getting up every day and playing music, and I’ll be damned if anybody out there will ever stop me from doing that.”

Little Big Town performed some of their biggest hits including their smash “Better Man” while Chris Stapleton’s set included his poignant “Broken Halos,” as he announced that he and his wife Morgane are donating $250,000 to the cause.

Reba McEntire’s performance included her tenacious “Going Out Like That” while Garth Brooks sent a surprise special video performing “Callin’ Baton Rouge” from Spokane, WA, donating proceeds from the night’s shows.

George Strait closed out the evening with his beloved hits including “Amarillo By Morning.”

Fans across the country unable to attend the benefit can continue to give by texting ‘NASHVILLE’ to 41010, by donating at www.CountryRising.org or by purchasing merchandise HERE. All proceeds raised will go toward the Country Rising Fund of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, which was established to support charitable initiatives to help victims of the September 2017 hurricanes — Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria. Additionally, the fund will also envelop victims of the recent shooting in Las Vegas. In the course of rebuilding lives disrupted by these devastating events, there are immediate needs and there also will be long-term needs.

COUNTRY RISING has also been supported by sponsors Citi, Texas Roadhouse, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, BMI, Budweiser, Frost, City National Bank, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store™, Sony Pictures Animation’s THE STAR, WME and Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Additional local businesses including Vintage Sparkle Furniture Rental, Events Plus, Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row, Black Tie Moving, Virago, Hattie B’s, Copper Whisk Cakes, Tin Roof, Dry House, Love and Lion, Foot and Salt Spa, HH Events and Revive Nashville have also stepped up to support the cause.

Chase Rice Readies Release of New Album ‘Lambs & Lions’

Chase Rice has pursued paths as divergent as the ACC college gridiron to NASCAR Pit Lane; North Carolina to Nashville. And while his journey has swerved, his resolve to follow his personal truth has been unwavering. His accumulated experience, creative focus, and athletic drive is evident in his latest release, Lambs & Lions, which is available Friday (Nov. 17 on Broken Bow Records).

As he ramps up to the release, Rice has been steadfast in his desire to bring his new music directly to his fans, throwing Lambs & Lions listening parties for fans across the country and unveiling the “We Are Lions” contest, which calls on students to show their school spirit by entering for a chance to win a free Chase Rice concert at their school.

As he first announced to a packed crowd of fans in Nashville last week, Rice has partnered with the CMA Foundation, the charitable arm of the Country Music Association, to help fund music education programs across the U.S. To that end, Rice will be donating the profits from album sales at listening parties in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, New York City, and Phoenix to the Foundation, along with the proceeds to his sold-out shows at the celebrated Grizzly Rose in Denver this Friday and Saturday.

Rice hinted at his plans to use Lambs & Lions as a vehicle to support music education over a month ago with the music video for first single “Three Chords & The Truth.”  In a treatment he created himself, the video follows Rice as he surprises a young fan battling hemophilia by showing up to his home with a new guitar and personally giving him his first music lesson. The closing slate of the music video is an invitation to find out more about music education programs at CMAfoundation.org.

“Three Chords & The Truth,” is already in the Top 40 and climbing at country radio and digital retailers. It’s a song he believes in due to the personal transformative power of discovering songs such as “Amazing Grace,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” and “Mama Tried,” and how they changed his life. “It’s personal in the sense that it goes back to high school and what it meant to me to hear those songs for the first time,” he said. “Three Chords & The Truth” captures the power of following my dream to Nashville and namechecks my heroes Johnny Cash, Steve Earle, Merle Haggard, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.”

It’s a fresh approach and Rice is doing it his way. With a new label, Broken Bow Records, and a renewed sense of creative purpose, Rice is making music that draws from multiple sources and influences, but is unified by his vision, integrity, and honesty.

“This is an album that stands for what I stand for,” said Rice. “I don’t think of myself as a country artist specifically—I’m here to be an artist, period. I’m very proud of the country genre, and I think we have some big country radio songs on here, but outside of that, there’s a story I wanted to tell, regardless of genre. I had to completely put out of my mind what anyone else would think. I knew I wouldn’t be satisfied until I took it as far as I possibly could.”

The 10 songs on Lambs & Lions derive from Rice’s life and experience, triumphs and disappointments, and ultimately his determination to stand up for his convictions. Produced by Ross Copperman, Chris DeStefano, Mac MacAnally and Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Cold War Kids), Lambs & Lions offers up sounds from the stirring horns on the title track to the spare piano and swelling choir of “Amen.” And it also reflects the unconventional path that led him to make music in the first place.

Lambs & Lions track listing:
“Lions” (Chris DeStefano, Ashley Gorley, Chase Rice)
“On Tonight” (Jessie Jo Dillon, Chase McGill, Jon Nite)
“Unforgettable” (Chase Rice, Josh Miller, Steven Lee Olson, David Garcia)
