Tim McGraw Releases New Single and Video “Humble and Kind”

Continuing the success of his critically-acclaimed album Damn Country Music, three-time Grammy®-winning singer, songwriter, and actor Tim McGraw released the record’s anthemic second single, “Humble And Kind,” today.

Fans will be able to catch an exclusive sneak preview tonight of the track’s music video on Entertainment Tonight. The full video will debut on McGraw’s Facebook page tomorrow at 12pm CST/1pm EST followed by a live chat with McGraw at 8pm CST/9pm EST.

“I felt like it was going to be a special song when we finished it. Then when we mixed it, it just really came alive,” McGraw says of the song. “It’s not about being ‘my’ song or ‘my’ album or ‘my’ piece of music or any of those things. I think it’s just the message that the world needs. The song is so special, we wanted the video to really have a meaning to it and the video to be really universal and worldly and encompass everyone and what the emotion of the song is.”

The “Humble And Kind” music video, directed by Wes Edwards, features scenes from Oprah Winfrey’s groundbreaking documentary “Belief,” which depicts how people with a wide range of beliefs search for deeper meaning and connection with the world around them. The song’s music video marries these universal scenes of faith and life with a dramatic McGraw performance, captured by a one-of-a-kind 360 degree turntable lighting rig which provides a big looping light highlighting the passage of time. The lyrics serve as a poignantly complementary soundtrack to the vivid, emotional storytelling and cinematic visual imagery of the series, which aired on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network last fall.

Along with the single and video, McGraw will also launch stayhumbleandkind.com, a site that aggregates stories shared with the hashtag #stayhumbleandkind as well as encourages random acts of kindness through a simple tracking program. “We want to celebrate positive stories that embody the lyric and message of the song – from the most simple to the extraordinary,” said McGraw.

The song became an immediate standout on Damn Country Music for fans and critics alike, with TIME Magazine noting that “McGraw shines most brightly when he’s foregrounding his warm, supple voice and keeping the music that surrounds him uncluttered. Perhaps that’s why the album closes with ‘Humble and Kind,’ in which the ‘good life’ means one governed by manners and grace.”

Newsday agreed, citing that “McGraw is at his best with a big, emotional ballad and he has a masterpiece to work with here… [the song] is a gorgeous bit of advice — in this case, from a father to his children, but it’s really pretty universal… McGraw delivers this advice with just the right amount of emotion, the right balance between preaching and suggestion.”

Nash Country Weekly further hailed the song “the album’s most powerful and pensive reminder of Tim’s aforementioned passion is the last verse in the last song… where he sings ‘When you get where you’re goin’, don’t forget turn back around / And help the next one in line / Always stay humble and kind.”

Maren Morris’ “My Church” Sets Country Radio Record

Singer/songwriter Maren Morris’ debut single “My Church” makes Country radio history today with a record breaking 107 first week Country radio chart reporting stations spinning the song that the Village Voice describes as being a “windows-down anthem about finding composure and contentment behind the wheel.”

As the No. 1 most added song at Country radio for the week, “My Church” sets the record for the highest charting debut single by a female in Country Aircheck’s Mediabase history and with today’s massive radio impact, “My Church” leaps to No. 32 on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart. The previous record for a debut single was 99 “adds” at impact date, until today.

“My Church,” the first single off the Texas singer/songwriter’s forthcoming album due later this year, was co-written and co-produced by Morris along with songwriter and producer Busbee (Christina Aguilera, Hunter Hayes, Little Big Town) and appeared on Morris’ self-titled EP, Maren Morris, which released in November reaching the top position on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums Chart. The EP has received glowing marks from the Village Voice, Dallas Observer, Pop Dust and NPR Music listed the track “I Wish I Was” as one of their Favorite Songs of 2015 touting “At the starting gate of a big career, this 25-year-old Texan shows the swagger and the style of a young Bonnie Raitt.”

In addition to turning heads in the Media and Radio world, fellow Nashville artists have taken note of Morris’ artistry. Most recent was Country Music superstar Keith Urban as he tapped Morris to join his RipCORD World Tour 2016 along with Brett Eldredge with dates throughout the summer in most major markets including Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, Philadelphia, Dallas, Chicago, Minneapolis and Washington, DC.

Furthermore, as fans of Morris anxiously await news of her forthcoming album the “one woman southern gospel choir” [Storme Warren, SiriusXM’s The Highway] continues to appear on multiple 2016 Watch Lists including USA Today (5 Musicians To Watch Out For in 2016), SiriusXM (Artists to Watch in 2016), Huffington Post (#1 on their Country Artist’s to Watch in 2016), Boston Globe (16 Artists To Look Forward to Hearing in 2016) and Billboard, where Morris was featured as one of seven artists across all genres in the January 16 “Predictions Issue.”

These are the songs of heartbreak and despair, of love and loss, of yearning and hope. These are the songs so honest that we adopted them as our own. They are the songs of a life led unlike any other: An All-American athlete, Golden Gloves boxer, Army Ranger, helicopter pilot, singer-songwriter, social activist, humanitarian and movie star.

Grammy Award-winner Don Was will serve as music director and will lead an all-star band backing the performers at this incomparable concert event taping. Was has produced several of Kristofferson’s albums including, A Moment Forever, This Old Road, Closer to the Bone and Feeling Mortal. The Life & Songs of Kris Kristofferson will be filmed and recorded for multi-platform distribution throughout traditional media (worldwide broadcast, music, and digital).

“Few musicians have had as profound an impact on music as Kris Kristofferson,” Wortman said. “It’s only fitting that we celebrate his artistry just blocks from where the legend was born with both his friends and contemporaries and those who are continuing his legacy with raw, honest songwriting of their own.”

“A major reason for Kris’ enduring popularity is that he’s always been very honest and open about revealing his inner life,” says producer Don Was, who has worked with Kristofferson for more than 20 years. “In doing that he has created an incredible body of work that has resonated for decades with millions of listeners. It’s always a deeply moving experience to sing and play his songs.”
