Blake Shelton Set To Release New Single “Came Here To Forget”

The wait is almost over! It’s been 18 months since the release of new music from Blake Shelton. On Tuesday, March 8, Shelton will release “Came Here To Forget,” the first single from his long awaited 12th studio album.

Written by Craig Wiseman and Deric Ruttan, the song is an intimate snapshot of a couple’s encounter at a bar. “I’ve had a lot of music over the years but I don’t think I’ve ever had a song before that’s such a direct look into my life,” said Shelton. “That’s why I’m so excited about this particular song.”

Shelton is currently wowing audiences with his sold-out ‘Blake Shelton 2016 Tour Presented by Gildan. “The crowd hung on every word,” said the Louisville Courier Journal on opening weekend. Shelton takes on Music City this weekend with a two-night, sold-out play in Nashville before wrapping in Pittsburgh, PA on March 19.

Slime-filled fun is set to take center stage on Saturday, March 12 as Shelton prepares to host Nickelodeon’s 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards. Super-sized surprises will take over this year’s awards honoring favorites from the worlds of film, music and television, and giving kids a front-row seat to slime, stunts and celebrities. The show will roll out on Nickelodeon’s more than 180 countries and territories around the globe. Additional Kids’ Choice Awards news will be announced in the coming months.

Earlier this week saw the premier of NBC’s two-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series “The Voice.” A four-time champion coach, Shelton re-unites with Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, and Pharrell Williams for the tenth season.

Cam Joins American Red Cross Home Fire Awareness Campaign 2Steps2Minutes

American Red Cross is pleased to announce that  ACM and GRAMMY® Nominated Artist Cam has joined the 2Steps2Minutes Home Fire Awareness Campaign. The program aims to save lives from the silent killer of homes fires that takes more lives each year than all domestic natural disasters combined.

After learning of a tragic home fire in Buffalo, NY that took the life of Demetrius Thomas Johnson, Sr. following his rescue of each of his three children and fiancée, Cam has made a donation to the Johnson family in his honor. Avenue Bank, the official sponsor of the BMI #1 party that yesterday honored Cam and co-writers Tyler Johnson and Jeff Bhasker for the chart-topping hit single “Burning House”, has also made a donation on Cam’s behalf to benefit Red Cross disaster relief in conjunction with the 2Steps2Minutes program.

“It is an honor for me to team up with the Red Cross and help spread the important message of 2Steps2Minutes Home Fire Awareness Campaign. After performing “Burning House” at my shows, fans have shared with me unfortunate stories of loved ones they lost to home fires,” said Cam. “Although the inspiration behind this song I wrote was based on a dream I had, I want to help others prevent a nightmare from happening in their own homes.  Each year, home fires cause more injuries and deaths than all domestic disasters combined. It’s a terrible statistic that I know we can change,” she continued.

Cam will join a number of artists and influencers in an upcoming Red Cross PSA to further promote the 2Steps2Minutes initiative and the two steps to being fire safe: 1.) Practice your 2-minute fire drill with your family 2.) Check your smoke alarms monthly to ensure they are working properly.

“Tragedies like the one in Buffalo happen far too often in this country, but we can change that,” said Neal Litvack, chief marketing officer for the Red Cross. “Thanks to artists like Cam, we can spread the word that fire drills aren’t just for school, so check your smoke alarm and make sure everyone can get out in two minutes.”

The American Red Cross helps families put the pieces back together after nearly 66,000 disasters a year, the vast majority of which are home fires. On an average day, 7 people die and 36 are injured from a home fire, resulting in over $7 billion in property damages each year.  To combat this, in less than 18 months, the Red Cross and its partners have installed over 239,000 free smoke alarms in homes across 3,700 cities.
