Kenny Chesney To Release New Album ‘Some Town Somewhere’ July 8

With “Noise,” the propulsive look at sonic overload and hyper connectivity, hitting the charts with an unprecedented 146 reporting radio stations, Kenny Chesney struck a nerve about the white noise overwhelming our daily lives. Look for the 8-time Entertainer of the Year to consider the state of the world we live in, resetting reality, drinking, dreams, love and yes, escape when he releases Some Town Somewhere July 8.

“In some ways, this record is more me than anything I’ve done,” Chesney says. “You get into my head, my heart and the way so much of what’s going on around all of us hits me. Taken as a whole, this is a record about seizing life in all its forms: the moments you wish wouldn’t end, the times that make you rethink your priorities, the simple stuff that gives us balance, a few characters at the bar and the hope that it’s all worth doing.”

Drawing on some of his favorite writers – Shane McAnally (“Somewhere With You,” “American Kids”), Josh Osborne (“Wild Child,” “Come Over”), David Lee Murphy (“Pirate Flag,” “Living In Fast Forward”), Ross Copperman (“Pirate Flag”) and Matraca Berg (“You & Tequila”) – as well as Oscar nominee Allison Moorer, Americana Awards winner Hayes Carll and Texas singer/songwriter John Ed Baumann, Some Town Somewhere is as musically progressive as The Big Revival without loosing the East Tennessee songwriter’s roots. A strong melodic sense permeates, along with a handful of wistful ballads and a few feel good songs with some meat on their bones.

“Every time I go into the studio, I think it’s important to bring people into your world – and maybe give them back a piece of their own world in the process. So much is happening so fast, we get caught up and forget some of the best stuff is what we’re rushing through,” says the man deemed “The People’s Superstar” by The Los Angeles Times. “I’ve had some of the very best songs, songs that really meant something to people and we went interesting places musically. But that sets the bar higher every time. I don’t want to repeat — and I want to grow as an artist. It’s a lot harder than you’d think.”

Again co-producing with Buddy Cannon, Some Town Somewhere was recorded in Los Angeles and Nashville, Tenn. Though no Grace Potter, there will be some very special guests – including Moorer on the song she co-wrote. Covering a vast stylistic plane, Chesney used many of the core players from The Big Revival – and its four consecutive No. 1 singles — to maintain the aggression and create an energy that took the songs to more intense places.

“When you’re in the studio, the chemistry the band has can have as much impact on the way the songs turn out as anything,” Chesney explains. “You could feel it on the last album, and I think everybody brought it up a notch or two this time. Everyone kind of knew we’d let ‘em push the songs, and man did they. Even the acoustic songs have so much presence.”

Having written, recorded and exploded “Noise” at country radio in a matter of two weeks, the urgency behind Chesney’s current music is palpable. With the winter committed to writing, listening and recharging, he spent the time considering what he wanted his next record to be. On July 8, the No Shoes Nation will get the next chapter in a long book that contains so many of their lives when Some Town Somewhere finds its way into the ongoing conversation.

“I always love being on the road performing for my fans,” shares Underwood, “but something about this tour feels more magnetic than ever. Having a 360-degree view of the audience gives me the opportunity to connect with more fans and feed off their energy. I can’t wait to continue this tour into the fall!”

Concert review critics have applauded Underwood’s confidence and command over the massive stage that spans the entire length of the arena floor. The Washington Post claimed she’s “at the top of her game,” and the Hampton Daily Press said the show’s “presentation is overwhelming, from start to finish- a spectacular sensory overload that had the crowd roaring all night long.” Rollingstonecountry.com praised “the in-the-round setting provides each concertgoer with the best experience possible. Simpler still is the storytelling aspect of the show and country music’s reliance on conveying memorable stories in song.” The Boston Globe stated, Underwood “demonstrated that she now truly can stare unflinchingly into those lights and dominate a stage, with a confidence, defiance, and a sense of ownership that have been a treat to watch come to fruition. A rock-solid, deftly sequenced hour-and-45-minue long set, which moved from playful to solemn, smooth to twangy, and from cinematic scope to smaller, intimate moments. The most stunning part of the production however, remains Underwood’s voice, strong and nuanced.”

The North American tour, promoted by AEG Live, will include special guests Easton Corbin and The Swon Brothers. Tickets will be available for The Storyteller Tour beginning Friday, April 8 at 10am local time at www.aeglive.com. Dierks Bentley Shares Tracks Off BLACK in Short Film Series

Following this week’s announcement of his eighth studio album BLACK (Capitol Records Nashville), PLATINUM singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley exposes plans for a short film series based on several of the album’s songs and premiering today exclusively through Rolling Stone.

Set to the track of “I’ll Be The Moon” (featuring Maren Morris), Bentley teams with longtime director Wes Edwards to bare the first listen of new music in Episode 1. The modern day film noir establishes a love triangle guided by the destructive power of steamy secrets. Also beginning today, iTunes will mirror the series by offering instant downloads of each episode’s featured track from BLACK.

“‘I’ll Be The Moon’ is a pivotal part of the flow of this record and is where the storyline of the couple in this series begins,” said Bentley. “We first recorded it just me, but the song looks at a relationship from a different angle, where the girl is instigating the deceit. So, I felt like it needed a female voice, and I started to hear it more as a duet. I love the perspective Maren adds, there’s weight to her voice.”

Drew Baldridge To Release Debut Album “Dirt On Us” June 10

In conjunction with this year’s CMA Music Festival, Country newcomer Drew Baldridge will release ‘Dirt On Us’ June 10. Equally inspired by Josh Turner and Michael Jackson, the Illinois songwriter penned 11 of the album’s 13 tracks alongside award-winners Tim Nichols (“Live Like You Were Dying,” “The Man I Want To Be”), Monty Criswell (“I Saw God Today,” “Like Jesus Does”) and JT Harding (“Alone With You,” “Sangria”).

Songs like “Tractors Don’t Roll” and the gospel remake “It Is Well With My Soul” channel Baldridge’s hometown and upbringing, while ” Train” and “Dance With Ya” portray the 24-year-old’s charismatic personality.

His current single “Dance With Ya” made its way to the top of SiriusXM’s “Highway Finds,” climbed into the Top 6 on CMT’s fan-voted videos and is now making its way up the mainstream radio charts. To further connect with fans, SiriusXM recently premiered the video for Baldridge’s track “Rebound,” featuring co-writer Emily Weisband. This is the first of many tracks Baldridge will continue to roll out through his June release.

During CMA Fest, Baldridge will perform three showcases to fans throughout downtown Nashville, adding to an already momentum-building year opening for Lee Brice, Eric Paslay, Granger Smith and Parmalee. Baldridge continues festival season with Tortuga Music Festival and Chippewa Valley Country Fest and has added a rare songwriting showcase alongside Bob Dipiero, Tim Nichols and Lee Miller at Joe’s Pub NYC on May 25.
