Michael Tyler Serves as CMT’s Featured Artist for the “Summer of Music” and “Listen Up” Campaigns

Dierks Bentley’s No. 1 Platinum-selling smash “Somewhere On a Beach”, Jason Aldean’s “Laid Back” and “First Time Again” (featuring Kelsea Ballerini) and three songs from the LOCASH’s album The Fighters, all have one thing in common – all are songs co-written by Reviver Records newcomer Michael Tyler (MT).  A songwriter since the age of 13, MT has always dreamed of coming to Nashville to do what he loves most… making music.  And his future looks bright.

Since the release of his debut album 317, Tyler has been named to several of Country Music’s “Artists To Watch” lists.  This month, MT will be featured as part of CMT’s prestigious “Summer of Music” and “LISTEN UP” campaigns reserved for the formats best and brightest.

“Music is all about community for me and CMT has made me feel like a part of their community,” said MT. “I can’t think of anything that I’d rather be doing than making music – whether writing, recording or touring –  I’m so fortunate to be able to do what I love.”

“Michael is one of country music’s most talented new artists,” said Leslie Fram, SVP Music & Talent for CMT.  “He’s a brilliant performer, whose songwriting has already attracted some of the biggest and best artists in our format and we’re proud to have him as part of the CMT Network family.”

Featured as one of CMT’s “17 of 2017” LISTEN UP Campaign, MT now has the full force of CMT’s platforms through which to connect to passionate music fans who look to the network for a deeper look at the developing careers of artists like MT.  His performance of “They Can’t See” and an exclusive interview from the CMT Summer of Music Experience are live through July 3rd at summer.cmt.com.

CMR Exclusive: Pat Green Shares Details Behind New Single “Drinking Days” and More

Beloved singer/songwriter Pat Green recently released his brand new single “Drinking Days” in advance of his forthcoming studio album. The new track was written by Jaron Boyer, Ben Burges and Phil Barton, and makes for a perfect fit into Green’s catalogue of music.

Celebrating the release of “Drinking Days,” we caught up with the singer/songwriter to discuss his new single and so much more! Check out our exclusive interview below with Pat Green.

CountryMusicRocks (CMR): You have a brand new single out now, “Drinking Days”! For folks that may not have picked it up yet, tell us a little about this brand new song?

Pat Green: “Drinkin’ Days” was a song Eli Young Band had this on hold and decided not to use. When I found that out, I jumped at the chance. It was such a perfect fit for me. Even though most of the time I like to write my own material, in this case, they captured me better than I could.

CMR: To showcase the new single, you also released the music video for “Drinking Days” which includes multiple photos all throughout your career. What was that like for you seeing all the pictures and thinking back on all the memories over the years?

Pat Green: I think that everyone can relate to nostalgia. For me, I’m a really lucky guy that my nostalgic pictures are of me playing on stage having a blast and entertaining people. Not kidding, this is an amazing job!

CMR: The new single is the lead from your forthcoming album. What can fans expect with your new album ahead?

Pat Green: All I know is when I go into a studio I try and do the best job I can telling a story of where I am right now. Hopefully that’s what everyone is going to get out of the new music.

CMR:With 2017 well underway, what are some additional things that you are looking forward to and excited about for this year?

Pat Green: The never ending party.

CMR: What is one song that has made a significant impact on you, and still to this day when it comes on, it takes you back?

Pat Green: There was a group of artists I listened to in high school. From Bruce Springsteen to The Blues Brothers, all of those songs take me back there.

CMR: Music consistently evolves and grows, and we’ve certainly seen that with country music. What is one aspect about this genre that has always resonated with you and continues to do so?

Pat Green: The only thing that stays consistent within any kind of music is that it’s made by people. And people are ever-changing, and so does music. I guess the thing I like most about country music are country people…

“Drinking Days” is available now and will make for a perfect fit on your country playlist. Grab “Drinking Days” now on iTunes here.

Kip Moore To Release Third Studio Album, SLOWHEART, September 8

Multi-PLATINUM singer/songwriter Kip Moore shared more details about his most personal body of work to date today, revealing to Rolling Stone that his upcoming third studio album on MCA Nashville SLOWHEART will be released on Sept. 8.

Having navigated the path from the staggering success of the release of his smash-hit debut album UP ALL NIGHT, to the resounding critical acclaim that followed with his sophomore offering, WILD ONES, has hit his stride with the upcoming release of SLOWHEART.

Moore co-wrote 11 out of 13 tracks, and was the sole producer on seven of the tracks, as well as co-producing five more on the collection that is “between the rough edges of Americana, rock and the evocative storytelling of country, produced to let every guitar lick ring true and every edge and wail of Moore’s voice reverberate raw but strong” (Rolling Stone). He also played guitar throughout the recording, while singing the majority of the harmonies, giving him a new found respect for the talented background vocalists within the Nashville community and resulting in the impactful authenticity of this record.

As Rolling Stone aptly describes, “The Georgia native is nothing if not steadfast: he does what he wants, how he wants it, and doesn’t try to shuffle his emotions under the table. He talks openly about depression and self-doubt, and, on Slowheart, about the life of a grown, modern man, one who wants a family sometimes but seeks a few no-strings thrills at others. He sings about fighting for a relationship at all costs, but also knowing when to pour the last round; and about how music is his real lover, while everything else is just an affair.”

With a wayfarer impulse, Moore followed years on the road touring building one of the genre’s most fervent followings with an extended break exploring the rest of the world, including stops in Iceland, Hawaii, Australia, Costa Rica, Park City and more. This time of reflection culminated in a striking sense of clarity, showcased in Moore’s upcoming collection. With a tip of the hat to 90’s rock and roll, the anthemic “Bittersweet Company” is destined for a spot on the setlist of Moore’s revered live show, as well as “Last Shot” with it’s encore-ready, emphatic chorus. Moore also serves an unflinching wake-up call in the form of the groove-driven track “Blonde,” while he lays bare a more vulnerable layer in the committed ballad, “Try Again.”

“This is the record I’ve been waiting to make,” said Moore. “The one that leaves you with a peace in your heart, knowing you did it exactly the way you wanted to. The one that makes it okay if you fail, because it truly came from your soul and no other place. You can’t go wrong if you can lay your head on your pillow with no regrets.”
