Dan + Shay Sends New Single “Tequila” To Country Radio

Breakout country duo Dan + Shay (Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney) released their brand new single “Tequila” just over six days ago and it’s a shot that has taken them to the top. The song ascended immediately to No. 1 on the iTunes U.S. Country Singles chart and remains Top 10 All-Genre, hitting as high as No. 5 over the weekend.

It debuted at No. 15 on the Shazam country charts and snagged a spot in the all-genre Top 200.  In less than a week, “Tequila” has sold nearly 20,000 tracks in the U.S. alone and boasts over 1 million on-demand streams, topping Spotify’s Hot Country playlist, before officially hitting radio airwaves.

“The response to ‘Tequila’ has been absolutely incredible,” said Smyers. “We knew the song was special, but to see it have such an impact, this early on, has been so exciting to watch. We easily have the best fans on the planet! Cheers to more ‘Tequila!’”

In addition to its success in the United States, “Tequila” has quickly begun spilling into countries across the globe. The reflective single hit No. 1 on the iTunes country charts in the U.K. and Ireland, also reaching No. 4 in Australia. Press outlets worldwide have highlighted the track, including the U.K.’s Entertainment Focus, who described the song as “an emotional ballad” with a “fresh spin.” Taste of Country applauded the “mid-tempo, polished, pop-country heartbreaker” for its “strong sense of melody and even stronger vocals,” while Rolling Stone described it as “a nostalgic tale of heartbreak and regret, lamenting the potency of that particular potable when it comes to conjuring romantic memories.”

Dan + Shay have shared the song with fans both old and new: on Friday, Alexa users who asked their device to play Amazon’s featured “Song of the Day” were treated to “Tequila.” The duo then took the single and more to Pittsburgh for a halftime performance at the Steelers vs. Jaguars playoff game on Sunday (photos here).

The Platinum-selling, chart-topping pair released “Tequila” on the heels of an incredible year of achievements. 2017 saw Dan + Shay earn more than 230 million streams, sell out shows in four international territories and earn a half-dozen award nominations amongst personal celebrations and milestones. The first new country duo in SoundScan recorded history to debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Albums Chart, they recently earned their first RIAA Gold album certification for Where It All Began. Lady Antebellum and Darius Rucker Team Up For Co-Headlining ‘Summer Plays On Tour’

Seven-time GRAMMY award-winning and current nominees Lady Antebellum and three-time GRAMMY award-winner Darius Rucker announced that they will head out on the road together for their co-headlining SUMMER PLAYS ON TOUR, kicking off on July 19 in Toronto, Ontario. The trio and Rucker share a long-time friendship and touring history, setting the tone for a fun-filled stint across the country and Canada, for which special guest Russell Dickerson has been invited to join.  

With dozens of No. one hits between them the tour offers a playlist-worthy night for fans which will also include spontaneous collaborations throughout the evening. CMR Exclusive: Tyminski Shares Details About New Solo Album “Southern Gothic”

Singer, songwriter, talented musician, and 14-time GRAMMY award winner Dan Tyminski has treated fans to multiple impressive works of art throughout the years. For the past 25 years, Tyminski has been an active member of Alison Krauss + Union Station, he was George Clooney’s singing voice in the popular film, O BrotherWhere Art Thou, and he is the vocalist on Avicii’s global hit song, “Hey Brother.” Now, Tyminski is changing things up and focusing on Southern Gothic, a brand new solo album he recently released.

Released in September of 2017 on MCA Nashville, Southern Gothic is comprised of 13 brand new tracks, all of which Tyminski co-wrote. What can one expect with this new solo album of Tyminski’s? Not what you’ve expected from him in the past, he told us in an exclusive interview.

“It’s new music. In a lot of ways, it defines genre” Dan Tyminski told us. “It is such a blend of influences that are from all different styles of music. There’s no one word that describes it. It has influences from all forms of music and you get to pick up on that when you dive in. I would tell people to go in with an open mind.”

Embarking on this new journey, Tyminski is experiencing some “firsts” in his career, starting with introducing tracks from Southern Gothic to country radio. “I’ve been doing this for quite a while and I’ve never been concerned with major radio play because we played a different type of niche of music that wasn’t popular radio music” Dan shared. “The opportunitity to be heard on the radio, and to get to go around to some of the radio stations & introduce myself, and go down a new avenue is very exciting.”

“It’s a thrill for me” he continues. “It’s not something I’ve had to do and it’s not a path I’ve ever gone down. It’s all new to me and I’m digging it.”

In addition to making his introduction to country radio, Tyminski is excited to introduce his new collection of music to fans out on the road. His show will have an eclectic mix to it, bringing all his musical experiences together on one stage. “The show is going to be focused on the new stuff on the record, but we are going to be playing stuff from Alison Krauss & Union Station and some older stuff, and I have to throw in there O Brother & Hey Brother “ Tyminski explains. “I have a bunch of stuff.”

“Some of the set will be connecting the dots. I think there are a lot of people out there who will be familiar with a couple of the other things that I have done,but still not really understand what is going on. So hopefully during the course of the show, the dots will get connected and they will realize it is the voice from “this soundtrack” or “this project,” and hopefully put a focus on Southern Gothic. I’m really proud of this and we are putting most of our energy in to the new music.”

Country music superstars and GRAMMY, CMA and ACM Award-winners Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town announce their co-headlining tour, The Bandwagon Tour, scheduled to hit the road summer 2018.
