Carrie Underwood Teams Up With Carnival Cruise Line and Operation Homefront to Support Military Families

Carnival Cruise Line announced a new initiative designed to support U.S. military families alongside seven-time GRAMMY-award winning superstar Carrie Underwood and representatives of Operation Homefront, the national nonprofit that builds strong, stable, and secure military families. The year-long Honor. Family. Fun. program will help raise funds for Operation Homefront and culminate in a special private pierside concert for service men and women and their families starring Underwood aboard Carnival’s newest and most family-friendly ship, the Carnival Vista, when the vessel makes its U.S. debut in New York City at the Port of New York on November 4, 2016.

“Military families represent a cornerstone of our country and we are honored by the opportunity to partner with Carrie and Operation Homefront to bring much needed awareness and aid to our troops and their loved ones,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “The partnership will bring to life many of the heartwarming stories our troops have to share while in turn bringing them some fun along the way.”

In 10 cities along the course of Carrie Underwood’s The Storyteller Tour, which kicks off in Jacksonville, Fla on January 30, select military families, chosen in partnership with Operation Homefront, will be treated to a personal meet-and-greet with Underwood before her concerts. A video series highlighting the meet and greets and the families’ individual stories will be featured on carnival.com.

“I’m honored to be able to join Carnival Cruise Line and Operation Homefront to lift up these soldiers and their families,” said Underwood. “I am really looking forward to meeting them on my tour and for the opportunity to personally thank them for all they do for our freedom.”

Driving the effort to raise funds for the cause, fans of Underwood, and of the program, will have the opportunity to donate by clicking on the “Donate Now” button on carnival.com/HonorFamilyFun. Commemorative dog tags will also be available for purchase at merchandise stands at all Storyteller Tour stops as well as on board the fleet of Carnival ships with all proceeds going to Operation Homefront.

“Carnival Cruise Line really knows what it means to support our men and women in uniform and their families,” said retired Brigadier General John I. Pray, Jr., president and CEO of Operation Homefront. “We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with the Carnival team and superstar Carrie Underwood to focus on the challenges our military families face as they work tirelessly to protect the freedoms we enjoy daily.”

The final stop in the cross-country Honor. Family. Fun. campaign will be New York City, where Carnival, Operation Homefront, and Underwood will treat hundreds of military families to a special concert aboard the new Carnival Vista at the Port of New York on November 4, 2016.

In the coming weeks, Carnival will launch a new shipboard military appreciation program. Each ship will host a special event on board to recognize active and retired military personnel and their families and will kick off with a welcome video featuring Carrie Underwood.

Finally, it was also revealed that Carrie Underwood will join the Carnival LIVE! roster of artists in early 2017 with further details to be announced at a later date.

Brantley Gilbert Kicks Off Blackout Tour

With the crowd on its feet long before BRANTLEY GILBERT hit the stage to “Read Me My Rights,” the standing-room-only audience at the Dow Center was deafening as the Jefferson, Georgian walked onstage in a black Sturgis t-shirt with hacked off sleeves. Over 17 songs and an extended acoustic section, the back-to-back PLATINUM selling songwriter/outlier rocked his country and sang his truth with an uncompromising intensity that met the crowd’s roars.

Gilbert’s songs hold the life, love and values of hard-working people on the frayed edges of the American Dream and last night, they were out in full force.

“We wanted to kick this tour off in the heart of the heartland,” Gilbert said of starting his BLACKOUT TOUR in Saginaw, Michigan, in January following the blistering set. “I wanted to go where the people work hard, throw down and really needed the party… Saginaw is all that, and then some. I looked in those faces – and I knew: those folks meant business.”

Blasting through songs like “Hell on Wheels” and “If You Want A Bad Boy” before even taking a breath, the audience sang “Dirt Road Anthem,” which picked up a 2012 CMA Song of the Year nomination and scored Jason Aldean a #1 hit. Over the course of almost 100 minutes, he and his 3-guitar-driven band played major hits and a few surprises, including a down’n’grinding take on Hank Williams Jr.’s “Outlaw Women.”

From the 3-D sequence that evoked “Sin City” that Milwaukee’s Blend Studio Studios’ 10-man team helmed by Nick Waraska – a veteran of such films for Harley Davidson — spent almost a month rendering to the final notes of the banjo’n’slide guitar-drenched “Bottoms Up,” Gilbert and the audience were one. Whether it was the “that was then, this is now” video of Gilbert and his wife Amber that rolled behind a hushed “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do,” the fan-tendered images – over 1,000 received in the first hour alone – moving across the screens for “That Was Us” or the black and white cartoons that melted into the video for “Stone Cold Sober,” the production pushed the songs without eclipsing the music or the man making it.

“I like the idea of the screens and stuff going on, but I never want it to be more important than the music,” explained Gilbert. “People come to have that moment, to show us by the way they sing and cheer and throw their fists in the air how much these songs mean to them. Me and the band want the fans to know we know these songs mean a lot to you. It’s why we play so hard, and try to give them room to rock, too.”

Brantley Gilbert’s always pushed the edge when it comes to music. The renegade Country star will play 27 North American arena shows — interrupted for Gilbert to Queensland, Australia for the CMC Rocks QLD at Willowbank Raceway on March 12 – over the next three months.

This is why I do this,” Gilbert offered, all adrenalin and raw vocal chords. “Taking it to the people; I wanna tell the truth and see it in their eyes. My fans know what I’m talking about, and they come for that. Starting out with such a great crowd, lets me know – after 11 possible set lists – this is what people are looking to see. And that’s everything we’re looking to do.”

Gilbert takes his rocking fans seriously. With shows tonight at Lexington’s Rupp Arena, then Indiana State’s Hulman Center on Saturday, the BLACKOUT TOUR is finally underway – and its rocking as hard as expected. For tour dates and more, visit BrantleyGilbert.com.

The Cadillac Three Release New Single “Graffiti”

Still high on the energy of last night’s sold-out crowd during opening night of their Night Life Religion UK Tour, THE CADILLAC THREE revealed new music today. Available now here, the band recorded “Graffiti” at London’s famed Abbey Road Studios as part of a live vinyl release coming later this year. Percussionist Neil Mason penned the track, which premiered on Planet Rock Radio earlier this week and is already A List, with Corey Crowder and Luke Dick.

Filled with heartfelt southern nostalgia, “Graffiti” takes the finest of TC3’s Nashville roots and seamlessly blends them with the authentic grit that has become a trademark for the band’s sound. LISTEN TO GRAFFITI HERE.

TC3 filmed the music video for their “Graffiti” while in the midst of headline dates that have already sold out in London, Cardiff, Manchester and Glasgow. Beloved by locals around the globe, the stouthearted trio’s vibrant shows fueled with word-of-mouth appeal continue to sell out bigger and bigger crowds at a phenomenal rate across the UK.

Since being named the 2014 UK Classic Rock Roll of Honour: Best New Band, The Cadillac Three became the most played new band on Planet Rock in 2015 with several radio singles listed on the UK’s biggest radio station dedicated to rock music while “White Lightning” was most recently a staple all summer on the BBC Radio 2 playlist.

“Like Kings of Leon before them, they’re poised for their first big break in the U.K.where they’ve sold out every headlining show for nearly two years before conquering their U.S. home turf, heralded Rolling Stone.

Adding to their prominent UK success, TC3 will spend part of 2016 out on the road with Florida Georgia Line’s Dig Your Roots Tour and Kip Moore’s Wild Ones Tour.

Sam Hunt Will Be Pulling For Peyton Manning for Super Bowl 50

Many of your favorite country stars will be watching Super Bowl 50 to see the match up between veteran quarterback Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos take on the most likely NFL MVP Cam Newton and his Carolina Panthers. Sam Hunt, a former University of Alabama Birmingham quarterback, will be among those, and the main thing for him will be just “to see a good game.” That being said, the Georgia native will most likely be pulling for Peyton, even though one of his friends plays for the Panthers.

“I’m a big Peyton Manning fan, and I always have been,” says Sam. “But I have a good friend that I played ball with in college; he’s playing with the Panthers, and their season’s been unbelievable. Just to watch the energy of that team grow throughout the year made it hard not to pull for ‘em, but I guess when it comes down to it, I’m gonna have to go with Peyton, because it could be his last go at it. He deserves it more than anybody. He’s one of the best that’s ever played.”

Sam does have a personal connection to the future NFL Hall of Famer. “When I was in high school, I went to a camp called the Manning Academy, and it’s a quarterback camp down in Louisiana. And I got to spend some time with Peyton and Eli, and they have another brother [Cooper]. I’ve followed [Peyton’s] career for a long time,” he says.

“Actually, a couple of years ago, I was at a concert of Kenny Chesney’s in Denver, and I was standing there side stage and Jake Owen was there. He had opened up for [Kenny], and I’ve been a friend of his for a little while, and he turned and introduced me to the guy behind us, who I wasn’t aware of at the time, but it turned out to be Peyton Manning. He was just a really nice guy, and it was just pretty cool to be on the stage with two people who inspired me in two different arenas, with Peyton with football and Kenny with music.”

Sam, who is nominated for a pair of Grammy Awards, is currently nearing the top of the country charts with “Break Up in a Small Town,” the fourth single from his album, Montevallo.
