Sam Hunt “Spreads The Love” About Kenny Chesney

Sam Hunt has been “spreading the love” with Kenny Chesney all summer long on Chesney’s Spread The Love Tour. Hitting dozens of major stadiums across the nation, Hunt has enjoyed his time out on the road with Chesney.

As the Spread The Love Tour winds down with its final stops this coming weekend at Gillette Stadium, (8/26 & 8/27), Sam reveals that Kenny has been a wonderful host. “He’s been awesome so far. He’s as advertised. Everybody, before getting into this, told me how great he was as a host on a tour like this, and he’s lived up to that reputation. He’s gone above and beyond for us and offered us the same opportunities that he has as the headliner, and that’s special,” says Sam. “I appreciate that from Kenny. He’s a class act.”

Hunt’s latest single is nearing the top of the charts with “Make You Miss Me.” Be sure to call in and request the hit single at your local radio station. “Make You Miss Me” serves at the fifth single from the country sensation’s debut album, Montevallo.

Written by Zach Crowell, Ashley Gorley and Hillary Lindsey, “Dirty Laundry” serves as the fourth single to be released from her latest album, Storyteller.

“I love the relaxed groove of the song combined with the vengeful storyline,” says Underwood. “That combination of strong, empowering lyrics set against the cool, laid-back sound, puts a new spin on the subject matter that feels really fresh and cool.”

Academy of Country Music Announces the ACM Merle Haggard Spirit Award

The memory of Merle Haggard continues to live on as the Academy of Country Music revealed a newly created award in the honor of the late country music icon. The inaugural ACM Merle Haggard Spirit Award, honoring uncompromising artists, will be presented at the upcoming 10th Annual ACM Honors event to an artist who has yet to be announced.

“Merle passed shortly after our 2016 awards show and after this year’s Special Awards were announced,” says ACM Board President Ken Tucker. “That said, there was simply no way the Academy could hold what may be its most heartfelt event – ACM Honors – without creating a lasting way to acknowledge his legacy. Celebrating and encouraging artists whose work echoes Merle Haggard’s indomitable spirit is beyond fitting. On behalf of the board, and with the blessing of his family, we are thrilled to create this important honor.”

The criteria for this new awards is comprised of the following: The ACM Merle Haggard Spirit Award, created this year, will be awarded to a singer-songwriter and performer whose career reflects the uncompromising integrity and steadfastness of spirit embodied by the late Merle Haggard. Beyond crafting iconic songs and delivering genuine performances, this deserving artist—like Haggard—is characterized by their singular vision in carving an indelible path in country music.

The 10th ACM Honors will take place on Tuesday, August 30 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Tickets are still available at ticketmaster.com. The special event will be televised on Friday, September 9 at 9pm ET on CBS.
