Kenny Chesney To Provide Fans With Another Glimpse Into New Album

So much of how Kenny Chesney made Here And Now took the East Tennessee songwriter back to the things that drew him to Nashville, writing and making music originally. Very much a celebration of being wholly present, alive and in the moment, this album also takes a moment to reflect on the loves, friends and seasons in our life that have moved on to other places, realities or realms.

That moment is Knowing You,” a gently reflective postcard to someone who’s gone. But more than mourning the loss, the simple country waltz embraces how alive the other person – be it a lover, soulmate or friend – made the singer feel, the rush of the moments shared and the fact that our caring for those people isn’t dependent on them being present.

“When I heard it, ‘Knowing You’ knocked me out,” says the eight-time Entertainer of the Year. “It was such a classic kind of country song you don’t hear any more, and it was so pure. And then, the idea you’re wishing the best for the other person, kind of smiling, knowing just what they’re doing and thinking, ‘Yeah, go enjoy the moment…’ is something the best people in our lives make us feel.

“And this song doesn’t have to be a lover who’s gone, or even a friend whose dream took them in another direction. It can be someone who’s passed away, just staring into the sunset, knowing they’re living that best part of life in heaven, maybe even looking down on you and smiling.”

Evoking Chesney favorites “On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful,” “Who You’d Be Today,” “Hemingway’s Whiskey,” “Wild Child” or even “When I See This Bar,” there’s a timelessness to the connection and a wish for so much good for the other. Not merely wistful, but knowing wherever they are, life is just how they wish it to be.

“People tell me their stories,” Chesney explains. “It’s humbling hearing what a song has meant to someone, where and when they’ve played it. Funerals, weddings, big games, really important moments, or just alone in a dark time. When you realize what songs represent, it’s not a hit record, but actual chunks of people’s lives.

“For me, this song with that tempo – and the way the guys played it – brought back so much of the innocent hopefulness of country music, and it suggested so many people. It was one of those songs I knew we had to do.”

Here And Now arrives May 1. With the anthemic title track, a surging reminder to find the good in every moment and savor being alive because each moment is a gift, heading for the Top 10 after just six weeks, the man The Los Angeles Times called “The People’s Superstar” returns with an album to lift people up, appreciate what they’ve got and maybe find some surprises along the way.

To get a taste, “Knowing You” is available at all digital outlets, starting Friday, April 10.

Jordan Davis Celebrates 3rd No. 1 Single with “Slow Dance In A Parking Lot”

It was a dream of becoming a songwriter that first brought Shreveport, Louisiana native Jordan Davis to Nashville in 2012. A lot has changed for 2020 ACM Best New Male Artist of the Year nominee since moving to Music City.

From signing a record deal and racking up over one billion streams of his debut album Home State to touring the country playing for fans and now notching his third consecutive No. 1 single with “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot,” one thing has remained constant for the breakthrough hitmaker, his love for the craft of songwriting.

When Davis sat down with co-writer Lonnie Fowler for a writing session in 2015 – their first together – he was feeling creatively spent after a week of writing daily. But as the two got to know each other, discussing hometowns and first dates, it was Fowler’s story of his first date with his now-wife that became the foundation for the already Gold Certified “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot.”

“When Lonnie told me the story of that first date with his wife…he was taking her home from their college formal and didn’t want the night to end, so he pulled into a parking lot and put on Garth Brooks’ ‘She’s Every Woman’ and asked her for one last dance. I just thought ‘man, that captures everything country music is about right there,’” shares the man Billboard and Rolling Stone have dubbed an “Artist to Watch.”

Davis continues, “Sharing the truth in three and a half minutes…that is what a good country song does. It is what we wanted to do with ‘Slow Dance,’ tell this real and honest love story. It’s been great to see that authenticity resonate with fans. From slow dancing at our shows to sharing their own videos on socials slow dancing in parking lots, they’ve really embraced it. Big thanks to Lonnie for letting me share his story and to the fans and country radio for their continued support. I couldn’t be more proud or thankful.”

The song Taste of Country called “a down-to-earth love song,” is the third single from Davis’s debut album Home State. It marks his third consecutive No. 1, following the 2x Platinum Certified “Singles You Up” and Platinum Certified “Take It From Me.”

And as Forbes recently noted, “the hits just keep coming” for Davis. This success follows a string of recent releases including the deeply personal “Detours,” “Trouble Town” which also served as the name of his just wrapped headlining Trouble Town Tour,  a collaboration with pop star Julia Michaels called “Cool Anymore,” as well as an Amazon Original cover of Jo Dee Messina’s 1996 hit “Heads Carolina, Tails California.”

Dustin Lynch Brings In The Flames For “Momma’s House” Music Video

Setting fire to his hometown in the name of heartbreak, Broken Bow Records hitmaker Dustin Lynch is seeing red in the brand-new music video for current single, “Momma’s House,” premiering worldwide on his YouTube channel.

Shot in Lafayette, TN, and directed by Mason Dixon, the hot-blooded video strikes an immediate mood, slow-burning and hurt-filled, transporting viewers to small town USA where Lynch strikes a match to watch the world burn over a broken heart. Only when he realizes the consequences of his heavy-handed actions, as personal as burning down his own “Momma’s House,” does he re-think his fiery behavior, opting instead for a whiskey shot and a reflective barstool brood.

Entertainment Tonight had the exclusive first look at the smoldering clip on Monday, getting the details on the inspiration behind the song and the video from Lynch himself.

“All the love stories that were successful in my life happened in high school in that small town kind of setting,” Lynch shared exclusively. “And that’s who you married and that’s who you had a family with, so ‘Momma’s House’ really takes me back to those times. I’ve been that guy before where I’ve just wanted to rip everything apart, but you know what I realized…is that lyrics to songs mean a whole lot more once you’ve been broken up with… All the sudden that John Mayer record means a little something different you know back in the day. That’s kinda what I clung onto. But pretty much every song that would come on the radio, it kinda felt different. You know I look at it differently because my world was crushed.”
