Granger Smith Injured While Performing

Yikes! Granger Smith took a really bad fall last night while performing at the Starland Ballroom in New Jersey. While standing on a monitor and performing, the monitor gave way and Smith fell off of the stage into a metal barricade. Fighting through pain, Smith managed to finish his set.

Granger was brought to a nearby emergency room and then transferred to a Level 1 trauma center in New Brunswick, NJ. Granger’s management teamed has confirmed that the singer/songwriter has suffered two completely separated, broken ribs as well as a punctured and partially collapsed lung.

At this time, all shows and appearances are canceled through the weekend and additional information regarding further shows will be forthcoming.

Our thoughts are prayers go out to Granger, and we are wishing him a speedy recovery.

Country Radio Seminar Reveals Artists For The 2017 New Faces of Country Music Show

Every year radio personnel and industry professionals gather together in Nashville for Country Radio Seminar. Over the course of three days, folks working in the country radio industry are further educated and introduced to new, innovative ideas and techniques to further enhance the enjoyment for country radio listeners.

The week is rounded out by dinner and performances featuring five artists who have made great strides and achievements, and were voted on by radio station personnel to be named at the 2017 New Faces of Country Music Show. The artists featured for the 2017 New Faces of Country Music Show includes William Michael Morgan (Warner Bros.), Maren Morris (Columbia Nashville), Jon Pardi (Capitol Nashville), Granger Smith (Wheelhouse Records) and Drake White (Dot Records).

“This year’s New Faces lineup is reflective of our format’s strength, and steady growth. I’m happy to report we received a record number of qualified votes from country radio supporting these talented artists. We believe it is going to be an amazing show,” said John Crenshaw, Chairman of CRS New Faces Committee.

This is such a great way and huge honor in country radio for each of these artists to start off 2017.

Dolly Parton Launches “My People Fund” In Effort To Help Victims From The Great Smoky Mountain Wildfires

As the fires in the Great Smoky Mountains and surrounding areas continue to wreak havoc on nearby communities, Dolly Parton has launched a foundation fund to assist the victims suffering from this horrific destruction. The My People Fund, established by Parton, The Dollywood Company and The Dollywood Foundation, will provide $1,000 each month to the families in Sevier County who lost their homes from the massive fires.

“I’ve always believed charity begins at home and my home is some place special,” Parton explained. “That’s why I’ve asked my Dollywood Companies—including the Dollywood theme park, and DreamMore Resort; my dinner theater attractions including Dixie Stampede and Lumberjack Adventure; and my Dollywood Foundation—to help me establish the My People Fund.”

“We want to provide a hand up to those families who have lost everything in the fires. I know it has been a trying time for my people and this assistance will help get them back on their feet.”

Contributions to the My People Fund can be made at dollywoodfoundation.org.

Additional details and information about the fund are expected to be released on Friday, December 2.
