Kenny Chesney Launches “Love For Love City” Hurricane Relief Fund For U.S. and British Virgin Islands

When Kenny Chesney went to the Virgin Islands 20 years ago, he had no idea the Saints would become an integral part of his life. But over the last two decades, the songwriter has lived as a local – and made many friends across the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. In the spirit of local community, Chesney began Love for Love City to identify pressing local needs, create opportunities for companies to donate supplies, food, physical goods or transport and people to contribute to the ongoing rebuilding of the islands.

“Getting supplies in is hard. Finding places for workers to stay is even harder now that Hurricane Maria has done so much damage to St. Croix,” Chesney says. “Because it’s so hard to get even the basic supplies in, let alone the news media, people really aren’t seeing how devastating these hurricanes have been.”

Chesney personally has sent planeloads of food, water, medical supplies, generators, tools, clothes, tarps and camping equipment. He has also taken many people and their pets off the islands to the mainland in an attempt to lessen the strain on supplies across the various islands.

Currently vetting various local and national relief organizations, Love for Love City seeks to insure the money and materials generated get to the people who truly need them. “With all the crisis across the country, it’s so easy to feel overwhelmed, or to respond to the first person who reaches out. In St. John and the other surrounding islands, there is so much more to the needs than just materials. We have to get the equipment necessary there… We need to figure out how to shelter workers rebuilding the community… We have to understand, too, that entire communities have been wiped out.

“Food? Water? Medical care? These things are all in an emergency state. That’s where we have to start… and it’s going to take time, careful thought and making some good decisions. But the number of meetings, calls and conferences I’ve been in or on over the last several days? It’s an education, but it’s also part of doing this is in a way that will matter. Right now, making sure the people in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands aren’t forgotten in all the other equally troubling stories is critical.”

Chesney cautions people who wish to help to be careful of all charities claiming to be affiliated with or through his name, or any of the entities he is affiliated with. Love for Love City is the sole charity Chesney is working through – and all resources collected will be distributed through Love for Love City after proper evaluation.

Dylan Scott To Release His First Collection of Holiday Music with ‘Merry Christmas’ EP

#1 hitmaking Curb Records star DYLAN SCOTT has made a list – and checked it twice – and decided that this Christmas, his incredible fans deserve an early gift. Scott’s first holiday EP, MERRY CHRISTMAS, will arrive on October 13.

Featuring brand new renditions of five traditional Christmas songs, the EP is a classic throwback brought to life by Scott’s warm and expressive baritone vocal. And with a track list that includes “Winter Wonderland,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “The Christmas Song,” “White Christmas,” and “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town,” the singer-songwriter says MERRY CHRISTMAS is filled with his own happy memories.

“Christmas is my favorite time of the year, and I am really excited about the release of my first Christmas EP,” shared Scott. “I grew up listening to the holiday classics and to be able to record and perform some of these songs is a dream come true.”

MERRY CHRISTMAS arrives just as Scott is riding an avalanche of breakthrough success. This summer he celebrated his first-ever #1 hit, as the intensely romantic “My Girl” rose to the top of the Billboard and Country Aircheck/Mediabase Country Airplay charts. Co-written with Josh Kerr about Scott’s wife, Blair, the standout track has now surpassed the one million combined sales and streams mark, with a RIAA PLATINUM certification on the horizon.

Likewise, his self-titled album debut landed inside the Top 5 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart, and he followed up with the release of an expanded DYLAN SCOTT DELUXE EDITION in August. Scott’s current single, the sharp and sexy anthem “Hooked,” looks to build on those achievements. Already surpassing seven million Spotify streams, it is now making its way up Country radio playlists.

Meanwhile, the MERRY CHRISTMAS EP coincides with yet another big step in Scott’s career. After spending the summer headlining his MY TOWN TOUR – which included a milestone sellout of Los Angeles’ world-famous Troubadour – Scott will join Justin Moore’s HELL ON A HIGHWAY TOUR as the featured supporting artist.

Kicking off on October 13 – the same day MERRY CHRISTMAS comes out – the marathon run begins in Monroe, LA, just 30 miles from the heartthrob’s hometown in Bastrop, LA, and will continue with coast-to-coast dates scheduled all the way through May of 2018.

Dierks Bentley Writes and Records “Hold The Light” for Upcoming Movie ‘Only The Brave’

The distinctive vocals of multiplatinum singer/songwriter and Arizona native Dierks Bentley resonate throughout “Hold The Light,” his first-ever song written and recorded for a motion picture. Also featuring Bon Iver’s S. Carey, “Hold the Light” is featured in Columbia Pictures and Black Label Media’s Only The Brave, in theaters nationwide October 20. The song was written by Bentley, Carey, Joe Trapanese and Jon Randall.

Bentley first took action in 2013 when he organized and hosted the Country Cares Concert in Arizona, which raised more than half a million dollars for the families of the Granite Mountain Hotshots. The new song honors and embodies the spirit of the true heroism depicted in the film and is available now at all digital retailers and streaming partners.

In composing the song, Bentley and Carey worked closely with Only the Brave composer Joe Trapanese. In the collaboration, the songwriters worked Trapanese’s film theme into the music of the song, providing a seamless transition between song and score and resulting in a song that is integral to the film itself.

“This is at the top, if not the most meaningful experience I’ve ever been a part of,” said Bentley. “It hits me harder than any other song I’ve had a chance to be a part of. Over the last couple years I’ve met and gotten to know Brendan, the sole survivor, and my mom has met with some of the guys’ families, and it’s still unfathomable to put yourself in any of their shoes. But, our goal was to create a message of hope and love. I’m honored to have been a part of it.”

Joseph Kosinski, the director of the film, added, “This story resonated deeply with Dierks from the beginning – he was one of the first to raise money to support the families of the Granite Mountain Hotshots and his commitment has been unwavering since then. The theme comes from the score and the lyrics come from the heart, so it was a natural fit for the film.”

S. Carey said, “Working on this song with Joe, Dierks, and the whole crew was a true honor. My brother-in-law has been a wildlands fire fighter for the last several years so I had a somewhat personal starting point for the creative process. I’m extremely thankful to be able to honor these men, these true heroes, in the form of a song in a beautiful, powerful film.”
