Canaan Smith is set to perform as part of pregame festivities during the College Football Playoff National Championship, Monday, January 11th at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. On the field prior to the game, Canaan will sing “America the Beautiful,” accompanied by a group of elite vocalists from “Encore,” the touring ensemble of the Phoenix Children’s Chorus.
In addition to Canaan, the pregame entertainment will also include contemporary R&B/Hip-Hop star Ciara performing the National Anthem and fellow country artist Eric Church who will headline the Championship Tailgate.
2015 was an exhilarating year for the singer/songwriter as Canaan released his debut album Bronco, featuring his Gold-Certified No.1 hit “Love You Like That” as well as his current Top 40 single “Hole In A Bottle.” Though Canaan often references the inspiration behind the album title, he recently opened up to the hometown paper to discuss his familial musical upbringing and the early motivation behind Bronco which can be viewed HERE.
This past year, Canaan also performed at The Knot’s Dream Wedding, was selected as an On The Verge artist by USA Today, and made his national television debut on NBC’s TODAY Show. Canaan kicked off 2015 touring with Kip Moore, Dan + Shay and Dierks Bentley before embarking on his first headlining Stompin’ Grounds Tour in November.
As a thank you to his fans, Canaan compiled a video highlighting the past year which can be viewed HERE. “2015 was insane,” says Canaan. “Thank you fans for allowing me to do this day in and day out, y’all are what keep me ticking. Can’t wait to unveil what’s next in 2016, we’ve got a lot of cool things planned. Stay tuned and we’ll see you out on the road. Thanks for everything!”
This year looks to be just as exciting for the Virginia native as he will next join Brantley Gilbert on the Black Out Tour starting January 28 in Saginaw, MI. Additional stops include Lexington, KY and Orlando, FL. For a full list of tour dates, news, images and more, visit CanaanSmith.com.
