CMA Announces 2017 Inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame

The Country Music Association announced that Alan Jackson, Jerry Reed, and Don Schlitz will become the 2017 inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Reed will be inducted in the “Veterans Era Artist” category, while Jackson will be inducted in the “Modern Era Artist” category. Schlitz will be inducted in the “Songwriter” category, which is awarded every third year in rotation with the “Recording and/or Touring Musician Active Prior to 1980” and “Non-Performer” categories. Reed, Jackson, and Schlitz will increase membership in the coveted Country Music Hall of Fame from 130 to 133 members.

“Each of this year’s inductees are well versed performers and songwriters and have helped define Country Music and popular culture,” said Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer.

“Thank you, CMA and Country Music Hall Of Fame, for recognizing all the years of love, dedication, and hard work that daddy put into his craft. He loved Country Music and would be so deeply humbled and appreciative if he was here. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” said Reed’s daughters, Seidina Hubbard and Lottie Zavala.

Jackson said, “For me to say I’m honored sounds like the standard old response, but for a man who loves Country Music there is no higher honor. This is the mountain top!”

“I live in the parentheses; I’m just a small part of a wonderful process of making music. This is overwhelming and humbling,” said Schlitz.

Formal induction ceremonies for Reed, Jackson, and Schlitz will take place at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum in the CMA Theater later this year. Since 2007, the Museum’s Medallion Ceremony, an annual reunion of the Hall of Fame membership, has served as the official rite of induction for new members.

CMA created the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1961 to recognize noteworthy individuals for their outstanding contributions to the format with Country Music’s highest honor.

“These three storytellers have added much to our lives, and to the story of Country Music,” said Kyle Young, CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. “They stand as models of undeniable eloquence and empathy. Over many decades, they have brought laughter, joy, and tears to millions. The Hall of Fame Rotunda will be grander for the presence of Alan Jackson, Jerry Reed, and Don Schlitz.”

Hosted by Country Music Hall of Fame member, President of the Board of Officers and Trustees of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, 18-time CMA Award winner, and 12-time host of the CMA Awards, Vince Gill, the announcement was made in the Rotunda of the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville and could be seen via live stream on CMAworld.com.

Chris Stapleton Announces New Albums and Adds Additional Dates To His All-American Road Show Tour

Chris Stapleton has revealed the title and track list for his much-anticipated new album, From a Room: Volume 1. The collection of nine songs will be released May 5th, with a second volume following later this year.

He re-teamed with producer Dave Cobb (Traveller) and recorded the project at RCA Studio A, and it will feature eight songs he co-wrote, as well as a cover of “Last Thing I Needed, First Thing This Morning,” originally recorded by Willie Nelson for his 1982 album, Always On My Mind. The song reached No. 2 on the Billboard country chart.

The album takes its name from Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A, where it was recorded during the winter of 2016-17. Other highlights from the album include “Second One To Know,” which Stapleton recently premiered at the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards as well as the album’s first single, “Either Way.”

In addition to Stapleton on vocals and guitar and Cobb on acoustic guitar, the album features Morgane Stapleton on harmony vocals as well as longtime band-members J.T. Cure on bass and Derek Mixon on drums and musicians Mickey Raphael on harmonica, Robby Turner pedal steel and Mike Webb on keys.

The May 5th release of Volume 1 comes exactly two years to the day since the release of Traveller. Released to immediate widespread critical acclaim, the album had one of the best-selling first weeks by a debut country artist in 2015. Following a historic turn on the 49th Annual CMA Awards—where Stapleton became the first artist to win Album of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and New Artist of the Year at the same awards – Traveller became the first album to re-enter the Billboard 200 all-genre album chart at No. 1, where it stayed for two straight weeks. The critically acclaimed album went on to win multiple Grammy and ACM Awards and was the #1 selling Country album of 2016 and the fourth-highest selling album of 2016 across all genres.

Coming off a sold-out Canadian tour last month, Stapleton is currently in the midst of an extensive U.S. tour. “Chris Stapleton’s All-American Road Show” will span throughout 2017 and includes stops at L.A.’s The Forum, Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre and New York’s Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater and will feature Brothers Osborne, Lucie Silvas, Anderson East, Brent Cobb, Margo Price and Marty Stuart as special guests. Seven new dates were recently added to the tour itinerary, which go on-sale at LiveNation.com this Friday (April 7th) at 10:00am local time.

From a Room is now available for pre-order digitally and with physical bundles.

Jackie Lee Intends To Build Connection With Fans While Out on the Obsessed Tour

2017 is already proving to be a breakout year for Broken Bow Records recording artist Jackie Lee. The singer/songwriter recently released his brand new single “Getting Over You,” and it is quickly becoming a fan favorite for the rising star. Additionally, Lee is introducing fans to even more new music out on the road this spring as he joins Dan + Shay’s Obsessed Tour.

The artist on the rise continues to establish a connection with fans via social media. The powerful tool has allowed him to connect with many online, and now he’s starting to get recognized off-line as well!

“It always blows my mind” Lee reveals to us. “I’m still at the very beginning stages, I’m definitely not like ‘famous’ or anything yet.  Like Dan + Shay, they have a huge following on socials and they’re famous. I’m starting to get in that place of recognition a little bit, which is really cool, I’ve never been there.”

Jackie shared with us his first experience on being recognized while out & about, and we have no doubt that this was just the first of many more to come! “I was at Target in Nashville the other day and they were like “are you Jackie Lee” and I said “yeah,” and they were like “can we get a picture,” I was like “are you sure? Are you sure you’re talking to the right person?” It was really cool. That was the first time I’d ever met someone like this that I didn’t know that wanted a picture. It’s always awesome to see fans in general, and interact with them on socials.”

Lee’s fan base continues to grow, especially during his 30 minute set opening up the Obsessed Tour. With just a microphone and his guitar, Jackie is making an impressive introduction with fans. The stripped down set allows him to connect and provide a memorable experience for the audience.

“I kind of made the decision to do it just me. Everyone is still getting to know me” Jackie explains. “When they come to see Dan + Shay, some have no idea who I am. I’ve had someone once tell me that people won’t remember the songs all the time, or what they wore or what you wore, but they’ll remember how they felt. That’s what I want people to leave with. I want them be like ‘man, that was the best concert I’ve ever been to, and that Jackie Lee guy wasn’t bad either!’ I just want people to know that I see them sitting out there and I want all of us to have fun together, that’s my goal.”

Jackie intends to learn from both Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney during his weeks out on the road with them. What the duo has going on for them both on stage and off stage with fans is something Jackie admires. “Dan is so great and Shay is one of the best singers I’ve ever heard in my life. I hope to take away the inspiration of every single night and stay in their ball field.”

“And their fan experience. I hope to grow every night by watching those guys. Talk about social media, they knock it out of the park, they kill it. Their fans are very loyal and that is what its all about. You can’t always have number ones on the radio. There will be a time where that is not a thing for artists, so having those fans that will be with you for the long haul is what I want and that is what they have. I hope to learn their ways.”

Jackie’s partnership with Spotify will also enhance his connection with fans as he visits multiple cities throughout the Obsessed Tour. By streaming “Getting Over You” on Spotify, fans will have the chance to meet the rising star and watch him perform live.

Jackie Lee is at country radio now with his new single, “Getting Over You.” Be sure to call in to your local station and request it, and also add it to your country playlist by downloading the hot new track on iTunes here.

Stay connected with Jackie Lee and see if he’s heading to an area near you. Visit his Official Website, and follow him on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Luke Bryan Makes Billboard History with Six No. 1 Singles from One Album

On Sunday night (April 2nd), Luke Bryan co-hosted the Academy of Country Music Awards on CBS for a fifth consecutive year and performed the No. 1 country single in America, “Fast.”  The song hits the top spot on both the Billboard Country Airplay and Country Aircheck charts. Luke also becomes the only artist in the 27-year history of the Billboard Country Airplay chart to garner six No. 1 singles from an album. Luke’s Kill The Lights album bests his own history as tailgates & tanlines generated five No. 1 singles.

“Fast,” written by Luke, Rodney Clawson and Luke Laird, also becomes his 18th career No. 1 single.  Luke’s previous No. 1’s from his Platinum-selling Kill The Lights album includes “Kick The Dust Up,” “Strip It Down,” “Home Alone Tonight,” “Huntin’ Fishin’ & Lovin’ Everyday” and “Move.”

On May 5 and 6, Luke will launch a brand new tour, “Huntin’ Fishin’ And Lovin’ Every Day Tour,” kicking off in Music City at Bridgestone Arena.
