Country music has lost one of its brightest stars and a true icon of the genre. Dolly Parton, the legendary singer, songwriter, actress, author and philanthropist whose incredible career touched the lives of countless people around the world, died today peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 80. The heartbreaking news was announced today in a video by her nephew, Bryan Seaver.
A private service will be held for immediate family at Dolly’s request. Fans are encouraged to share their tributes and memories on Dolly’s official website dollyparton.com and on social media tagging @DollyParton.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at imaginationlibrary.com.
