After a year filled with songwriting – and song singing – Cale Dodds is bursting from the gates on the count of two with his Warner Bros. / Warner Music Nashville debut double-sided single, “All Over / Lying.” The rising country artist co-wrote both his first new major label offering “All Over” and “Lying,” the viral hit he is re-releasing in celebration of this milestone. Check them out here.
Dodds credits influences from Tom Petty to Garth Brooks in the creation of his own unique brand of contemporary country music, with fans and fellow musicians alike responding enthusiastically to his songs. A Thousand Horses featured his co-written track “(This Ain’t No) Drunk Dial” as their second single, which broke the Top 25 at country radio. With over 11.3 million on-demand streams of his music prior to today’s “All Over / Lying” release, the singer / songwriter has already found his own way to connect with listeners.
“In my songs I try to pinpoint moments that people think about but don’t know how to verbalize,” said Dodds. “I love when people say ‘that’s exactly how I feel’ or ‘that’s what I think about all the time, I just never knew how to say it.’ I take pride in being observant, seeing as much life as I can, freeze framing those moments and documenting them in my music. I think ‘All Over’ and ‘Lying’ are examples of moments that are honest and true to me, and I hope that they resonate with people.”
The Columbus, GA native pulls his own stories from a childhood of fishing and listening to country music with his dad and brother, teenage memories of playing with his band at middle school dances and the last few years cutting his teeth as a songwriter and musician in Nashville. Those craving more Dodds-style relatable music won’t have to wait long. “All Over / Lying” is the first of three “double singles” that he will release over the next few months, each featuring an updated version of an already-released song as well as a brand new track.
Dodds will continue to share behind-the-scenes looks at writing, touring and more with his recently launched “Cale Cam” video series, each installment showcasing his dynamic personality. He spent the last months of summer on the road opening for country superstars including Sam Hunt, Brett Eldredge and Kip Moore, and he will join Billy Currington at the Ogden Theatre in Denver on October 13. Armed with new music and continued big stage experience, Dodds will kick off 2018 with his first-ever nationwide radio tour, beginning in January.
