Soulful singer and perennial hit-maker James Otto has released a new EP today centered around his infectious and energetic current single “Somewhere Tonight.” The EP marks the first release for Otto on Blaster Records, who announced their signing of the artist last month.
In addition to the single, the three-song EP features another brand new track, “Back It Up” as well as Otto’s take on the Bob Seger classic “Night Moves,” a long-time crowd favorite from his live shows. “Somewhere Tonight,” written by Otto with Corey Crowder, JT Hodges, Patrick Davis and James Slater, recently cracked the Top 5 on SiriusXM’s The Highway Hot 45 and has just been shipped to monitored country radio by Blaster. The EP is available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and all other leading digital outlets.
“It feels great to be putting new music out there,” says Otto. “I’ve been really focused on my writing for the last couple of years. Some great friends have cut a bunch of those songs but it’s really exciting to put out a few of them myself.”
One of the most distinctive vocalists in Country music, Otto was honored with a Grammy nomination for his breakout hit “Just Got Started Lovin’ You,” which became the most-played country song of 2008. He is also a co-writer of Jamey Johnson’s “In Color,” which won CMA and ACM “Song of the Year” honors in 2008.
Otto will continue his busy touring schedule, including a month-long trek across Canada this Fall, while finishing the writing and record of his new full-length album. The as-of-yet untitled album is scheduled for release in early 2016 via Blaster.
