Country sensation Katie Armiger is launching “Girls With Dreams,” a national songwriting competition that gives young songwriters the chance to win a $10,000 college scholarship and have their music recorded with Armiger.
The winner will be flown to Nashville to record their song with Katie and two-time Grammy-winning producer Chad Carlson (Taylor Swift). For contest rules and information, please go to katiearmiger.com.
“My entire career started by winning a contest,” says Katie, “And now I’d like to give other young ladies an opportunity like the one I had.”
Katie, who Country Weekly magazine recently named one of the 10 most beautiful women in country music, began her career as a 14-year-old girl with dreams of going to Nashville. At age 15, she completed her first album and set her sights on becoming a national singer/songwriter. Along the way, she found role models and mentors who inspired her to chase her dreams. Katie has become one of the brightest new stars in Nashville and has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in country music. Now Katie wants to give back to girls with big dreams and big talent through a national songwriting competition: Girls With Dreams.
Katie made history by becoming the only indie female country artist to chart in the top 10 on both Billboard and iTunes. Her most recent album, Fall Into Me, debuted at No. 6 on the Indie Albums Chart, No. 7 on Billboard’s Country Albums Chart and No. 32 on the Billboard 200. Fall Into Me became her highest-charting album to date. Armiger wrote or co-wrote every track on the album. In addition, she committed all of last year to honoring our nation’s first responders with her “Project Feel Safe” campaign.
Armiger recently teamed with Yahoo! for the premiere of her newest video, “One Night Between Friends.” The video can be seen HERE. The “One Night Between Friends” video was shot in Los Angeles and directed by Justin Baldoni. Baldoni, one of the stars of the new CW show, “Jane the Virgin,” also helmed the video for Katie’s single “Safe,” which shot to No. 1 on the Top 20 Country Countdown Chart. Its stunning video–a tribute to our nation’s first responders–amassed more than two million YouTube views.
Over the course of the past few years, Katie’s shared stages with some of country music’s biggest artists, including Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley, Little Big Town, Eli Young Band, Darius Rucker, Josh Turner, Rodney Atkins and Kellie Pickler, to name a few.
