Old Dominion sure know how to close out an amazing year as their second No. 1 single, “Song For Another Time,” tops both the MediaBase and Billboard charts. The chart topping single serves as the third release from their debut album Meat and Candy, following their two-week No. 1 hit “Break Up With Him,” and Top 5 hit “Snapback.”

“Song For Another Time,” written by band members Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen, Brad Tursi, and fellow songwriter and frequent collaborator Matt Jenkins, was a song that almost didn’t go on the album. In fact, they had pitched it to country superstar Kenny Chesney, who they have been on the road with the past two summers, and will join him again next summer at Gillette Stadium for a two-night stint.

“When we went back into the studio to record ‘Song For Another Time’ to ensure it made Meat And Candy, we had initially pitched that song to Chesney to record,” shares Ramsey. “It was one of the first times I can remember an artist telling us we needed to save a song for ourselves, so thanks Kenny!”

Rosen adds, “It definitely added something that we felt was missing on our album, and so to have it hit No. 1 feels really good as we trusted our instincts and as it turns out, they were right.”

Old Dominion will be heading back in to the studio to work on their sophomore album. New music is anticipated for release in early 2017. “We will never be able to truly describe what this album did for us and how everyone supporting it changed our lives” shares Tursi.

“It’s an incredible feeling to be on the receiving end of this much love from the fans, our friends at radio, the songwriting and music community” adds Ramsey. “We’ve learned there are so many people who have to be behind you in order to get to live this dream and to receive recognition like this with the validation of a No. 1 on the charts, and to each and every one of them, we want to say ‘thank you.'”
