Cody Johnson is on the rise and making a significant impact with the release of his latest album, Gotta Be Me. The new collection of music debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart, just behind Blake Shelton’s If I’m Honest, and ahead of several well-known, major label artists, and #11 on the Billboard 200 chart, an impressive feat for an independent country artist.
When Rolling Stone Country asked Johnson about his recent success, Cody shared, “To see yourself on that chart with that many artists that you respect, I really can’t put into words. All I can say is I give the glory to the good Lord upstairs. And I don’t really know what to say about those numbers from the first week of album sales other than my favorite Thomas Edison quote, which is, ‘There is no substitute for hard work.’ That’s what me, my band and my brand are about.” Check out the full, exclusive feature here.
Cody Johnson is one that you want to keep your ears tuned in and eyes on. The momentum will no doubt continue for the rising artist. Pick up his brand new album, Gotta Be Me, on iTunes here.
