Mercury Nashville recording artist Canaan Smith just released his debut, self-titled EP. The 5-song collection features Top 25 hit single “Love You Like That,” and he’s currently showcasing the new music on Dan + Shay’s Where It All Began Tour.
Canaan Smith is definitely in his element on stage, and looks like he is right at home up there. The country newcomer’s stage presence displays confidence, and he immediately forms a connection with the audience. Smith’s set-list is well structured as he maintains momentum throughout his entire set with song selection and placement. With songs such as “Two Lane Road,” “Hole In A Bottle,” Mad Love” and more, Canaan delivers excitement, passion and fun which is further intensified by the fans. Smith treats fans to a stellar cover of Nick Jonas’ “Jealous,” managing to make the popular pop song fit right in to the country theme of the night. Canaan also delivers a moving tribute to his brother with the song “Bronco.” The song resonates and leaves a lasting impression without bringing mood down. Not an easy feat, but Canaan accomplishes it and quite well. “Love You Like That” closes out Canaan’s set with a powerful, strong as a fifth of whiskey, impact.
Canaan makes for a strong, solid opener on Dan + Shay’s Where It All Began Tour. He continues to grow as an artist and performer with each night he spends on stage, and is going to make for an undeniably perfect fit on Dierks Bentley’s Sounds of Summer Tour.
