It is with a heavy heart to report that Country Music Icon and Grand Ole Opry star Little Jimmy Dickens passed away today, January 2, at the age of 94. Dickens passed of cardiac arrest after being hospitalized from a stroke on Christmas Day. Dickens is a highly respected member of the country music community, and was the longest running member of the Grand Ole Opry.
“The Grand Ole Opry did not have a better friend than Little Jimmy Dickens,” shared Pete Fisher, Opry Vice President & General Manager. “He loved the audience and his Opry family, and all of us loved him back. He was a one-of-kind entertainer and a great soul whose spirit will live on for years to come.”
Little Jimmy Dickens is survived by his wife Mona, and daughters Pamela Detert & Lisa King. Funeral arrangements are unknown at this time, however, according to the Opry, a public service is being planned. Read more here.
Thoughts and Prayers go out to the Dickens family during this difficult time.
