This week, multi-platinum selling country artist Joe Nichols earned his sixth career chart-topper when his latest smash “Yeah” soared to #1 on the Mediabase/Country Aircheck chart. Additionally, “Yeah” held the #1 position on the Billboard Country Airplay chart for its third successive week, making him only the second country artist this year to a have a three week #1 single on the chart (Luke Bryan’s “Play It Again” previously spent four weeks at #1 beginning in May 2014).
“Yeah” also spent two consecutive weeks at #1 on the Canadian Country Airplay charts. “Yeah” is the follow-up to Nichols’ recent #1 “Sunny And 75” and the second consecutive #1 single off his debut album for RED BOW RECORDS, CRICKETS.
Nichols broke yet another Billboard Country Airplay chart record two weeks ago when “Yeah” jumped from #5 to #1 and became the biggest chart leap in nearly a year (the former being Randy Houser’s “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight” in August 2013 worked by Stoney Creek Records, sister label to RED BOW).
“Yeah” has now surpassed 500,000 units sold to date.
“It was almost like I dropped off the planet,” Nichols tells Rolling Stone Country in the first of a three-part series of articles on the star. “But I think things happened for a reason…that I needed that time to feel the gratitude that I feel right now. Coming from basically the bottom of my career to what I think is the top of my career right now, it’s a pretty great feeling.”
