Country superstar Brad Paisley was a surprise guest at Bagram Airfield, the main U.S. base in Afghanistan, on Sunday, May 25. In honor of Memorial Day and to express his thanks to the troops he played an hour long acoustic set for approximately 3,000 U.S. troops. From the stage, Paisley referred to the event as “the honor of my life.”
On Saturday evening Paisley boarded Air Force One, with President Barack Obama and a few of his advisers and made the overnight flight to Bagram. The trip was not announced and a complete surprise until they landed. President Obama delivered a speech to the troops expressing thanks for their extraordinary service, met with military commanders and visited wounded troops in the base hospital.
