Brantley Gilbert with Lindsay Ell Releases Music Video for “What Happens In A Small Town”

Having taken the unconventional route of making his new music available to fans first with the wide release on December 14, the video for “What Happens In A Small Town” hit CMT: Country Music Television for a world premiere January 17. As the track lands at Country radio this week, BG Nation has already driven the powerful duet – featuring not just vocals but blazing guitar work from Lindsay Ell – to No. 1 at iTunes over the holidays.

Now the Shaun Silva-directed clip, which traces the torment of the memories you can’t unrun when you break up in a small town, arrives with special CMT consideration at the same time. In classic Silva-style, the CMA Awards Music Video of the Year winner sought to capture the reality of the situation and scouted several small towns to find one that had an authenticity to match Gilbert’s lyrics and the pair’s wide-open performance.

“Every word of this is true,” Gilbert says with a laugh. “You know, it’s not the big things that really get you when you break up with someone you love in a place like this: it’s the small stuff. That’s what tears into you.”

Gilbert knows by heart. Moving back to South Georgia after deciding he would always be a man whose heart is where he was raised, he plugged back into his roots – and found himself wondering about the girl he’d written all those songs about. Life, though, has a way of being good to the good-hearted. Though a circuitous route to get there, today that woman is his wife.

“It happened to me,” Gilbert admits. “But it happens to a lot of people out there. Whether you’ve found your way back to them, or not, those feelings don’t always stop just because you’ve broken up. ‘What Happens In A Small Town’ is as much about the memories as it is the fact you’re going to keep running into each other. So, maybe this song will help some people save time!”

Teaming with Lindsay Ell, whose musicianship and intensity equals Gilbert, their passion for the music defines in their performance in the clip. Add the young couple – shown in the moment and in flashbacks to all the moments that relationships are built from – and “What Happens In A Small Town” offers a core sample of why love right where you are with someone who knows everything about where you come from are the ones that define us.

Hunter Hayes Set To Release Brand New Music

With over 40 award-nominations and wins, including five GRAMMY nods to his name, Atlantic Records / Warner Music Nashville’s Hunter Hayes has already solidified himself a multi-genre superstar – all before the age of 28. With a meteoric rise of that caliber during his early twenties, Hayes decided to try something a little different for his third studio album. The multi-platinum selling artist patiently built a track list, which includes his forthcoming new single “Heartbreak” due this Friday (1/25).

“I remember the day I wrote heartbreak, I felt relieved but also elated. I was on fire,” said Hayes. “It was the same feeling that I’ve had in the past with songs like ‘I Want Crazy.’ This song came about during a time where, for the first time in 5 years, I was writing by myself. Right after I wrote ‘One Shot,’ I had the idea to start journaling love songs to my future better half.”

“After a relationship ends, I think we all want to know that there is someone for us but unfortunately, a lot of people have been lead to believe that you’re supposed to feel shitty after a breakup. I wanted this song to turn that feeling around for people and remind them not to let someone walk out the door with your happiness and your self-worth.”

“I kind of want this song to be somebody’s disco ball on a depressing night rather than a box of tissues and a Hugh Grant movie. That’s why I love that line ‘I’ve been in some shit relationships but I remain an optimist.’ Watching shows back, that’s the line that you hear crowds singing the most, which is hilarious because the songs not even out yet.”

“It’s a song about freedom. It’s a song about true honest happiness and love and how there is love for everyone. Not only are you worthy of being loved but there is somebody out there who loves you even though they haven’t met you. In the darkness of a heart breaking, I’m here to tell you there’s also a whole lotta light.”

However, Hayes hasn’t been completely quiet since 2016. In 2018, he released his unflinchingly honest and introspective song “Dear God,” that to date has accumulated over 22 million streams globally. With Rolling Stone calling it an “anthem for the anxious,” Taste of Country also declared: “leave it to Hunter Hayes to release a song that speaks the truth.”

Hayes also shared the unfiltered track “One Shot” that Billboard praised for being an “instant party anthem” that’s “highly relatable…with the uplifting, hopeful tone that’s a signature of his music.” Additionally, he released a three-part mini movie set in the 1950’s titled “Pictures” that follows storylines of domestic violence, racial differences, and a powerful love that can’t be stopped. Interwoven with the movie are Hayes’ three music videos for songs “You Should Be Loved,” “More” and “This Girl.”

Garth Brooks To Release New”FUN” Album

Garth Brooks shared more news about his upcoming studio album, revealing the forthcoming release’s title is FUN. Garth divulged the information during “Inside Studio G,” a weekly Facebook Live series airing every Monday on Garth’s Facebook page at 7:00 PM EST and available to watch here.

Garth fans have been given a teaser of what to expect from his anticipated studio album, with Garth releasing the “honky-tonking new tune” (Rolling Stone), “All Day Long” and debuting the “powerful ballad” (Billboard) “Stronger Than Me,” during the CMA Awards, with both tracks taken from the much-awaited record, available to pre-order now.

“The title of the album was sparked because making it has been such a fun process to go through,” explained Garth. “Being able to go in and out of the studio while being on the tour, working with the same guys, it’s been amazing. The album will be available this spring and I want the fans to just have fun with this, because that’s what this has been.”
