Troops and military families stationed at Aviano Air Base in Italy recently gathered to spend some quality time at a USO concert with hot Country artist Brantley Gilbert. Marking his first USO tour, the reigning Academy of Country Music (ACM) New Male Vocalist of the Year performed for thousands of  military members and their families in Italy and Kuwait.

The eight-day USO tour made stops at Aviano Air Base in Italy; Camp Buehring, Camp Arifjan and the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing in Kuwait.

“Returning from my first USO tour I am both honored and humbled, by having had the chance to spend time with the men and women who serve our country and their families,” said Gilbert. “It means so much to me knowing that I was able to bring them a distraction and to take their minds off all the things they are missing back home, even if just for a few hours.”

While the singer/songwriter is hoping to take home, with the support of his fans, the ACM award for New Artist of the Year, Gilbert was grateful for the opportunity to show his support for the troops and their families. Fan voting continues at www.voteACM.com through April 7. The 48thAnnual Academy of Country Music Awards air on CBS, beginning at 8:00 PM live ET/ delayed PT.
