Bucky Covington is gearing up to release his sophomore album, Good Guys, on September 11. The album houses 12 tracks, including his new single “Drinking Side of Country” featuring Shooter Jennings. It has been 5 years since his debut album release and Bucky’s growth as an artist is evident on this album. With a seasoned sound and strong song selection, the album is one to listen to from start to finish.
Kicking things off with “I Wanna Be That Feeling”, Covington sets the tone for the album as his passion for his music comes in loud and clear with each song. “I’m All Right” is a solid ballad, coupled with a great music arrangement, that resonates long after the song is over. Of this track, Bucky tells us it is one of his favorite songs on the album. Bucky’s energy is rockin’ on tracks such as “Drinkin’ Side Of Country”, “Mama Must Be Prayin'” and “Gotta Be Somebody”, while smooth & rich on tracks such as “Hold A Woman”, “I Want My Life Back” and “A Father’s Love (The Only Way He Knew How)” as he showcases a softer side. Bucky’s delivery of Lionel Richie’s hit song “Sail On” makes a great addition to the album. Good Guys contains several musical elements, giving listeners a great blend of songs.
One of Bucky’s most memorable moments during the recording process was producing “Drinking Side of Country”, which he co-wrote with Rocky Covington and Ducky Medlock. Covington shares with us, “One of the most memorable by far is “Drinking Side of Country” and sitting in the studio producing my song and Shooter Jennings singing on it. I remember sitting back in the producer’s chair and looking back and just thinking THIS is what I came to Nashville to do. This was surreal, it was amazing and then to see the final product come out and do what its doing, I’m ecstatic.” After sitting on the other side of the studio glass and in the producer’s chair, Bucky indicated that he does see himself back in the producer’s chair for his future projects.
