Fans who patiently waited over three years for a new Montgomery Gentry album, flocked to retail and online stores last week and drove the award-winning duo’s Rebels on the Run cd to a Top 10 debut on the SoundScan Country Chart.
“Man, bein’ away that long, we just didn’t know what to expect,” said the duo’s EddieMontgomery. “Our friends kept comin’ to the shows all that time, and it looks like they were ready for some new music!”
“We have the greatest fans in the world,” added Troy Gentry. “But we definitely don’t take anything for granted. We are so thankful to everyone at Average Joe’s and for the team they put together to get the word out about this album. We’re more excited about what’s going on now than we have been in a long time, and it makes us want to get out and play that much more.”
Produced by Michael Knox (Jason Aldean, Trace Adkins, Hank Jr.) Rebels on the Run celebrates a return to Montgomery Gentry’s musical roots – to a sound that helped establish them as a force to be reckoned with and that also earned them a Duo of the Year award.
“After one full listen through the record it’s obvious that the T-Roy and Eddie have found their groove they lost an album or two ago,” said Roughstock.com in a recent review. “While the hits were still coming, the rest of the albums filled like filler while Rebels on the Run is all killer.”
Somewhere in the retail world there still lurks one physical copy of Rebels on the Run containing a specially-designed “golden ticket” cd. One fan lucky enough to purchase the cd will be awarded a one-of-a-kind Demented Cycles custom chopper designed with input from the duo’s Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry. No purchase is necessary for a chance to win the prize, and official rules can be viewed here.
The first single, “Where I Come From,” from the new album continues to not only be one of their fastest-moving singles but also one of their top-researching songs at radio.
