Trace Adkins has a Top Ten hit with the latest single, “Just Fishin’” from his new album, PROUD TO BE HERE, but last weekend he made an even bigger splash with an invitation he extended to the Middle Tennessee chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters. On Sunday, August 28, a group of ten Big Brothers and Sisters and ten Little Brothers and Sisters enjoyed a day on the lake at Adkins’ farm – the same farm featured in the “Just Fishin’” video shoot.

The song, which has become a new Country classic about spending quality time to make memories with your children, served as an appropriate theme song for the day. The Littles and their Bigs enjoyed  a day of swimming, paddle boats, zip lines and, of course, fishing. Everyone caught at least one fish, and all who attended left with a brand new fishing pole of their own, courtesy of Adkins.

Although he was away performing in Pennsylvania, Trace called the farm to welcome everyone and express his wish that he could’ve been out on the lake with them.

“The impact that can result from a quiet conversation between a Big Brother or Sister and their Little Brother or Sister while fishing is priceless,” commented Lowell Perry, Jr. – CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee.  “I had the opportunity to meet Trace Adkins and part of his management team in Las Vegas when my daughter Tucker was representing Tennessee in the Miss USA pageant in 2010.  He indicated then a willingness to get involved, and his generosity in making his lake available to our Bigs and Littles speaks volumes about his commitment to children.”
