“If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away,” the lead single from Country star Justin Moore’s sophomore album, soared into the Top 40 on both the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart and the USA Today/ Country Aircheck chart, powered by Mediabase this week, debuting at #37and #40 respectively.
Yesterday’s debut exemplifies how significantly Moore’s star status has grown since he was named Billboard’s “Top New Country Artist of 2009.” Moore’s new single was the second most-added song at Country radio this week, second only to superstar Kenny Chesney. Moore has graduated from main stage opening act on Brad Paisley’s “American Saturday Night” and “H20” tours to main stage supporting act on Miranda Lambert’s current “The Revolution Continues” tour. The southern country stylist has sold over 1.2 million digital downloads and scored three consecutive smash hits from his debut album (the #1 “Small Town USA”; Top 5 “Backwoods”; and Top 20 “How I Got To Be This Way”).
“If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away,” shows a softer side of one of Country music’s hottest rebel rockers. Upon first listen, the single struck an emotional chord with Moore, who recently found his own life reflecting the song’s storyline.
“If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” is one of those songs you hear one time, and know immediately that it’s special,” says Moore. “Everybody, unfortunately, can relate to the lyrics in this song. It’s a part of life. You have to go through losing loved ones. Personally, I went through it a year ago losing my grandpa and aunt in the same week,”
Continues Moore, “The great thing about this song is that it will make you laugh and cry, and evoke every other emotion you can think of. To me, that’s what Country music is all about. That’s why I make it, love it, and live it. I’m thrilled that everyone is just as excited about it as I am. I want to say a HUGE thank you to Country radio for playing it early for us. I can’t wait to play this song all across the country this year.”
