Eric Church releases the new single “Homeboy” from his highly anticipated third studio album which will be released later this year. “Homeboy” was written by Church and Casey Beathard. The idea for the song came after Casey heard his son say “come on homeboy” to one of his buddies. Casey brought the idea to Eric while the two were writing in a cabin in North Carolina this past fall. Playing on the various meanings of homeboy, the result is a powerful song involving two brothers.
“I love songs that challenge me as a writer and also challenge the listener,” explains Church. “This song is a journey both musically and lyrically about a man and his search for his wayfaring brother.”
Described by Rolling Stone as possessing “old-school songwriting craftsmanship,” Church, who is a nominee for ACM Top New Solo Vocalist (www.voteacm.com), has celebrated three co-penned hits from his critically acclaimed sophomore album Carolina including “Love Your Love The Most,” “Hell On The Heart” and “Smoke A Little Smoke.” His songwriting was recently featured in an issue of PEOPLE Country and he has graced the cover of Billboard magazine. For the last year, Eric has been touring non-stop on his own sold out headlining tour as well as opening for artists including Miranda Lambert and Jason Aldean.
