Montgomery Gentry will hit the ground running in 2011 with a visit to the Grand Ole Opry and a USO Tour.
Friday night’s performance at the Grand Ole Opry will mark the duo’s first public appearance since Eddie Montgomery’s successful surgery to treat prostate cancer in December. His doctors have given him a clean bill of health and his doctor, Thomas Kirk Slabaugh, Jr, MD states, “Mr. Montgomery underwent successful robotic surgery for prostate cancer in December. His cancer was completely excised and he will not require further treatement for his prostate cancer in the future. Mr. Montgomery has benefited greatly from early detection of prostate cancer with PSA screening.”
On Sunday, Montgomery Gentry will travel to Seoul, South Korea and Okinawa, Japan to perform for troops and their families as part of an eight day USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour. The duo’s Troy Gentry adds, “We couldn’t be more excited to start our year with a visit to the Opry and this USO trip to entertain our troops. We understand on a much smaller level what it is like to be away from our families and our homes. If we can bring a little bit of home to our heros serving overseas, then we’re all for it.”
