Jake Owen & Live At LongHorn Announce The “Sing It Like Jake” Contest Winner

Ty Bates of Hampton, Ga., has won a once-in-a-lifetime chance to perform  live on-stage with country music star Jake Owen in front of Jake’s hometown crowd in Vero Beach, Fla., on Friday, Dec. 10.  Out of the more than 70 video performances submitted in the
LongHorn Steakhouse “Sing It Like Jake” online talent contest, Bates’ rendition of “Startin’ With Me” was voted by Jake and a panel of judges as the top, grand-prize winning video, in addition to receiving the most votes from visitors to LongHorn’s Facebook page.

As part of the grand prize, Bates will receive a trip to Nashville, the opportunity to ride with Jake on his tour bus from Nashville to Vero Beach, and the ultimate prize of performing live on stage with Jake at his Vero Beach concert.

“I’m so excited to be the grand-prize winner, and I’m really looking forward to being on stage with Jake and his band,” Ty said. “This is an amazing opportunity and I couldn’t be here without the support from my friends and family.”

From Oct. 11 through Oct. 31, contestants submitted video-taped performances of their favorite Jake Owen songs on LongHorn’s Facebook Page.  Visitors to LongHorn’s Facebook page voted for the performances they liked most, and the top 10 videos receiving the most votes were named “Sing It Like Jake” contest semi-finalists, eligible for the grand prize.  To visit LongHorn’s Facebook Page, click HERE.

“I’m looking forward to taking Ty on the road with me and my crew and giving him the opportunity to sing his heart out on stage at my charity concert in Vero Beach,” Jake said.  “Choosing a winner was a tough decision, and I’d like to thank everyone who entered and voted in the ‘Sing It Like Jake’ contest.”

“Ty’s performance of ‘Startin’ With Me’ captured the true spirit of the ‘Sing It Like Jake’ contest, showing originality, individual spirit and genuine talent,” said Shelly Welch, senior vice president of brand marketing for LongHorn Steakhouse.  “We’re honored to fulfill Ty’s dreams of experiencing life as a country music star, including an exclusive on-stage performance with the talented Jake Owen.”

Jake’s Vero Beach concert is part of the annual “Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest,” an event Jake founded with ATP tennis pro Mardy Fish four years ago.  The event benefits the Mardy Fish Foundation, which supports local youth organizations and offers sports, music, dance and art programs for young people in the Vero Beach area.
