Chuck Wicks is among the stars helping Georgians kick off the holiday season at the 63rd annual lighting of the Macy’s Great Tree on Thanksgiving evening. With more than 100,000 fans expected to attend the event at Atlanta’s Lenox Square Mall – and another half-million expected to watch the live broadcast on WSB-TV – the celebration will include performances by Wicks, as well as American Idol Season 5 runner-up Katharine McPhee, Platinum R&B artist Bobby V, and Atlanta native Austin Renfroe.
The lighting of the tree – a 62-foot white pine weighing approximately 12,000 pounds – will take place in front of Macy’s at Lenox Square Mall from 7-8 PM on Thanksgiving night, followed by a fireworks finale set to holiday music. Performances by Chuck Wicks and the other entertainers will precede the lighting, with
entertainment set to begin at 6:15 PM.
Wicks is currently poised to hit the radio airwaves with his new single, “Old School,” from his upcoming second album, due in 2011. With the release of his debut album, Starting Now, two years ago, Wicks emerged as a compelling new voice, both as a vocalist and songwriter, with hits like “Stealing
Cinderella” and “All I Ever Wanted” resonating with an everyman’s perspective on life and love.
