Carrie Underwood Makes American Music Award History With Her Win For “Play On”

Sunday evening,  Carrie Underwood’s current album Play On received the “Favorite Country Album” award at the American Music Awards. This honor tallies six total career AMA’s for Underwood, noting that each of her three albums- Some Hearts in 2007, Carnival Ride in 2008 and now Play On have now taken home this award, making her the only artist in AMA history to have their first three albums all recognized as “Favorite Country Album.”
Underwood’s American Music Award wins also include 2007 “Favorite Female Artist- Country,” 2007 “Artist of the Year” and 2006 “Favorite New Breakthrough Artist.”
Underwood’s “Play On Tour” will take a break this weekend for the Thanksgiving holiday and will return on November 29 in Auburn Hills, Michigan, with thirteen additional shows before the tour wraps on December 19 in Calgary, Alberta.
