CMR Concert Review: Jimmy Buffett’s Under The Big Top Tour 2010

Jimmy Buffett just wrapped up his Under The Big Top Tour 2010 last weekend in Las Vegas.  Jimmy has been an icon in the music industry for years and even more specifically, he has been an icon in the country music industry.  Buffett has compiled tracks with Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Zac Brown Band and many more.  We had a chance to catch one of his shows prior to the end of his tour and Jimmy was fantastic.  It didn’t matter that it was a Tuesday night or a crisp fall evening, when your at a Buffett concert you feel like your in a tropical paradise as margaritas are flowing and everyone is dressed in tropical inspired shirts, shorts & flip flops.
At the sold out show in Portland, Jimmy entertained the crowd as soon as he stepped foot (barefoot that is) onstage starting with Nobody From Nowhere and performed for over 2 hours straight singing hit after hit including Brown Eyed Girl, Come Monday, Cheeseburger in Paradise, One Particular Harbour, A Pirate Looks at Forty, and so many more.  The evening started winding down with his all time anthem Margaritaville prior to his encore of Scarlet Begonias & interactive song Fins.  Jimmy closed the night with an acoustic performance of He Went To Paris with just Buffett in the spotlight on the dark stage alone, just him and his guitar. It was the perfect way to end an enjoyable evening

If you haven’t seen a Jimmy Buffett show, be on the lookout for his tour next year.  If you want a fun filled evening where nothing matters but a good time, you will want to attend a show (or two).  For those that have attended a Buffett show before, you know what its all about and I’m sure your already anticipating his tour for next year.
