Shot at Roberts Stadium in Evansville, Indiana, Blake Shelton Live: It’s All About Tonight premieres Wednesday, September 8, 9:00 p.m/Eastern on Great American Country (GAC). The special is produced by Jon Small, the creative mind behind several Emmy-nominated projects including Garth Brooks’ Central Park HBO special.
While state of the art stage production and lighting surround Shelton and his tight band of musicians/friends, it’s Shelton’s ability to connect with his audience through songs, stories and a sharply-tuned sense of humor that really takes center stage. While the Garth epiphany happened during his high school years, Shelton knew at an early age what he was meant to do. “From the time I was 7 years old I’d decided that I wanted to sing,” he recalls. “Waylon and Hank, Jr., were almost like action heroes; they were just cool because they were singing and they sounded cool and they had guitars in their hands.”
The 90-minute special is barely enough time for Shelton to perform the smash hits he’s amassed since first topping the charts in 2001 with the five-week No. 1 hit, “Austin,” but he manages to fire up the sold-out crowd with “All About Tonight,” “The More I Drink,” “Kiss My Country Ass,” “She Wouldn’t Be Gone,” “Some Beach,” “Ol’ Red,” “Hillbilly Bone,” and of course, “Austin.” Fans also get a chance to hear the brand new “Who Are You When I’m Not Looking,” and are treated to a special performance of his hit “Home,” a duet with special guest and fiancé, Miranda Lambert.
“Blake’s talent, energy and great sense of humor combine to make a very entertaining special” says Sarah Trahern, SVP of programming for GAC. “GAC is thrilled to be able to partner with him for his first televised special as we continue to deliver great country music performances to our audience.”
