Kenny Chesney’s Summer In 3D Premiered in Vegas this past weekend and opens nationwide tomorrow. Now that he has that behind him, he has a bit of time on his hands.
“I haven’t really got a chance to spend a lot of time with my family,” the artist, told PEOPLE at Saturday’s Las Vegas premiere of Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D. “I’ve been gone for 17 years. I’m going to try and write a few songs and see how my boat fits again and kind of going from there.” Where will that boat take him? “I’ll probably go somewhere in the Caribbean with it. I don’t really know yet.”
The movie, having been shot over six nights in five locations during his Sun City Carnival Tour, totally consumed him, Chesney said. “Now that the film is ready to be behind me, I’m going to sit around and just try to get away from being me for a second,” he said.
Chesney had a large turnout for his premier during ACM Weekend in Vegas. Morgan Freeman walked the red carpet with him along with Matthew McConaughey. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill were also there to show their support. “I can’t wait to see him in 3D,” McGraw, said. “He’s ugly enough in 2D.” Then, putting the kidding aside, McGraw added: “No, we’re really proud of him. He’s been a friend of ours for a long time and he’s worked really, really hard.”
